Edmentum/iNACOLReview SummaryProject Overview:Edmentum provided Academic Benchmarks with access to their Sensei system which housesonline middle school and high school courses for various subject areas. Academic Benchmarksuses Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyze client products. Edmentum provided access tothe platform and online content that included all of the content for courses which were reviewedand evaluated.A Subject Matter Expert (SME) from Academic Benchmarks reviewed a total of 82 courses(listed in table below) and compared the information within the courses with the Quality Rubricas provided by iNACOL (or another quality format, for example, state of Michigan). The purposewas to determine if the courses measured up to the 52 quality standards (iNACOL) over 5primary areas: content, instructional design, student assessment, technology, course evaluationand support. The results of the review were documented in a custom format indicating whethereach of the 5 areas were fully met, partially met, or not met.The SME viewed each course individually by using the client provided access to the EdmentumSensei webpage. The SME analyzed all content within the individual courses, looking forcoverage in each of the subsection categories and ranked the standards based the rating scale.Data Collection:iNACOL National Standards for Quality Online Courses (2011) are divided into five sections:content, instructional design, student assessment, technology, course evaluation and support.Within the five sections, there are 21 subsections which cover the following: academic contentstandards and assessment, course overview and introduction, legal and acceptable usepolicies, instructor resources, instructional audience and analysis, course unit and lesson,instructional strategies and activities, communication and interaction, resources and materials,evaluation strategies, feedback, assessment and resources, course architecture, user interface,technology requirements/interoperability, accessibility, data security, accessing courseeffectiveness, course updates, certification, and instructor and student support.The table below shows course alignment coverage for the 52 iNACOL quality standards.“The Gold Standard in K-12 standards solutions.”
