Molded Case Circuit BreakersIntroductionWhat’s NEW in molded case circuit breakers:New Sentron SensitripSentron Sensitrip IV ETU Circuit Breakers with Integrated DAS / Maintenance ModeDesign enhancements include:b Upgraded ETUb Frame ratings from 400A to 1600Ab Identical footprint, kAIC ratings and accessory offering as legacy Sensitrip III ETU breakersto ease integration / retrofitb Maintenance mode versions require customer-supplied 24V external power supply, maintenance switch and light5NGBNGGHGGMOLDED CASECIRCUIT BREAKERSThe Siemens GG, and xGB2 circuit breaker is a compact, industrial design thermal magnetic breaker withvaluable features for the global markets. These features include a design that meets multi-national standards, is suitable for DIN rail or base mounting withoutthe need for adapters, and includes CSA Certified /UL Listed field installable accessories. The GG, andxGB2 also has an over center toggle mechanism that istrip free and uses repulsion contact arm construction. Therefore, should a short circuit or tripping conditionoccur, the contacts are forced apart and the breakercannot be held closed by means of the handle.LGGThe New Siemens QR Circuit BreakerImplemented in loadcentres, panelboards, switchboards, meter centres, and modular metering, the new QR breaker is the same form-factor/mounting as QJ breaker foreasy retrofit. The new Siemens3VA Molded CaseCircuit BreakersDesign enhancements include:b Trip unit ratings from 100A to 250A.b Field installable internal accessories – shunt trip, auxswitch or shunt/aux combo.b Two accessory pockets in 3-pole breakers. One accessory pocket in 2-pole breakers.b High in-rush current capability (450%).b Push-to-trip button.BQD and NGB, HGB, LGBhandle ties are now releasedfor use where single polebreakers are using sharedneutrals and must be lockedout simultaneously.b 125A and 250A ThermalMagnetic Trip Breakersb 150A thru 600A Electronic TripCircuit Breakersb Extensive and flexible accessoriesb Common internal accessories forthe entire breaker familyb Power metering with the series-8LCD electronic tripb Illuminated rotary handles showswitch positionb Smaller footprint than Sentron orVL breakersb Enhanced Tools and Resourcesbreakers.Siemens Canada Limited Power Product Catalogue5-3

Molded Case Circuit BreakersOrderingNon-Interchangeable Trip BreakersIn the FD through RD frames, you mayorder molded case circuit breakers threebasic ways:If you place an “X” after the frame sizedesignator (e.g. JXD63B400), you willreceive a frame and trip unit assembled, with the trip unit made non-removable.If you suffix an “L” to this catalognumber (e.g. JXD63B400L), you willreceive the breaker, non-removable tripunit and lugs assembled. Unless youanticipate a specific need to change thebreaker’s ampere rating in the future, this is the preferred ordering method, asthe products are assembled to Siemens’specifications in our factories. Thesebreakers are suitable for use reverse fedaccording to CSA C22.2 No. 5-13 / UL489, since the trip unit is not removable.1. As separately ordered frames, tripunits and lugs2. As frame, trip unit and lugs ordered asone catalog number and shippedunassembled or assembled3. As Frame and Trip Unit shippedassembled and with the trip unit madenon-removable, in compliance with UL489 / CSA C22.2 No. 5 requirementsthat to be reverse fed the circuit breaker must not have an interchangeabletrip unit. These two options are described in thefollowing:MOLDED CASECIRCUIT BREAKERS5Components Ordered SeparatelyTo get the components for a 3-pole, 400Amp standard interrupting circuit breaker, you would order the frame (JD63F400),the trip unit (JD63T400) and six lugs(TA2J6500). This option is normallyuseful only if you stock and use largevolumes of product and wish to reduceyour inventory cost. You may stock, forexample, a smaller number of frames(JD63F400) and a variety of trip units(JD63T300, JD63T350, etc.) andassemble breakers as you need them. The smaller frames (QJ, ED and below)do not have removable trip units, andconsequently are shipped only asassembled products. To add lugs, see the ordering instructions oneach product’s catalog page.5-4Most Siemens thermal magnetic tripMCCBs are applicable on direct current(dc) systems. Generally, for 250 V dcsystems a two pole breaker is used, with one pole on each leg of the supplycircuit. For three pole breakers applied on500 V undergrounded DC systems, it isimportant to connect the power supply“zig-zag” through the breaker as shownin the figure below. This assures that theVoltage between phases on the breakerterminals is uniformly distributed.See below for an alternative connectiondiagram. For a list of Sentron breakerswith the DC ratings, please refer topages 5-11 - 5-16.300 VMAX.300 VMAX.Load/Carga/ChargeFrame, Trip Unit and LugsOrdered TogetherIf you order the catalog numberJD63B400, you will receive a frame, atrip unit and 6 lugs in separate packages.By suffixing this number with “L” (e.g.JD63B400L), you will receive frame, tripunit and lugs assembled in one container.Pursuant to CSA C22.2 No. 5-13 / UL489, a product ordered thus will have themarkings “LINE” and “LOAD”, and maynot be “reverse fed” (with power flowing from the “OFF” end of the breakertoward the “ON” end).IntroductionConnecting Breakers for DCApplication500V DC Wiring ConfigurationSiemens Canada Limited Power Product Catalogue
