We can mail, fax, or copy the packet for you.How much does this class cost?The Nurse Refresher Program costs 2000.00; this is non-refundable.The following items are included in the price of the class: online class, skills sessions (10 hours),40 hours of online simulated clinicals, and skills session supplies. For those the OBN directs tothe online only course (didactic portion), the cost is 600 for 6 months’ access to the course.I need to take this class because. Will this class satisfy theOBN’s requirements for my particular need?We, Southern Tech, cannot advise any student if the Nurse Refresher program will satisfy theOklahoma Board of Nursing’s requirements. You will need to contact the OBN directly aboutyour specific case to find out of the Nurse Refresher Program is right for you. If the OBN tellsyou that this class is what you need, we welcome your enrollment.I have something that will be/might be an issue on my background check, willthe class help me get my license?Southern Tech cannot answer qualifying questions for licensure. You are welcome to contactthe Oklahoma Board of Nursing directly to see if the NurseRefresher program is right for you.When is the next class? Why are the dates not advertised?The dates of the class are not advertised because we can start a class anytime we have 2 or morestudents who wish to take the program, have turned in completed packets, and have paid in full.How long does it take to get through the Nurse Refresher Program?Typically, the class takes around 6 months to complete, but will not exceed 6 months.What is required for me to enroll in the course?Please see the “Nurse Refresher Checklist” for a list of all requirements of the course.Nurse Refresher Packet1/2021

The course is expensive, do you offer payment plans, scholarships or,any help with funding?Unfortunately, Southern Tech does not offer payment plans, scholarships, or fundingassistance of any kind.Some people may qualify for tribal education funds. If you need a worksheet to turn in,please call (580) 224-8201.You can also contact your local Workforce Development Center/ResCare to see if funds areavailable to you.None of the above statements are guarantees of funds or assistance.You can pay for the class by credit card, cash, check (DL & 2 phone numbers), or moneyorder. You are welcome to send payment by mail; please do not send cash in the mail. You will need to take a class and have your card to us beforethe clinical packet deadline in order to attend clinical.Must I get a Tuberculosis test?If you prefer you can have a chest x-ray completed and read instead. But, you must eitherhave the x-ray or the TB test and we must have a copy of the results. When will I complete my background check and drug screen?Where do I go? How much will it cost?Background Checks and Drug Screens must be completed before attending in person clinical.Registration instructions are included in the enrollment packet.The company we use for this service will email you an authorization sheet to take with you toget your drug screen; the address where you will be screened will be printed on theauthorization paper.Drug screen facilities are chosen for you using the home address you enter into the systemand it will choose the partner facility closest to you. Should you choose to use a differentlocation you will be responsible for the payment of those drug test(s).Drug screen and background check costs are NOT included in the price of the program.If you are unable to provide a large enough specimen for testing, do not leave the facility,drink water, wait, and try again; if you leave it will be considered a refusal to test and wecannot pay for any subsequent retesting.What if I don’t get the confirmation email to go for my drug screening?Please log back into the website (where you went to register) and you can print theconfirmation off from there.I take prescription medications will that be an issue on my drug screen?When we get the results of the drug screen, if we have questions or concerns you may berequired to give us a copy of the prescription, that is current, and in your name, for theitem flagged on your drug screen.If you know that this may be an issue and you’d like to share the information/prescriptionpreemptively, you are welcome to let us know and give us a copy.We will need to attach any copies to your drug screen on file in case we are audited by ourclinical facilities.When are the skills and clinicals? Where are they held?The skills schedule will be set after the class has started. What does the clinical schedule look like?Clinical schedules are determined after we have received enrollment for the enough students tomeet the minimum. Clinical and Skills schedules can vary based on instructor and clinical siteavailability. Typically, the clinicals meet a few weekdays per week.Can I miss a clinical or skills day?No. Once the schedule is set it cannot be changed.I’m enrolled, now what?Now that you have enrolled and paid, we can order your online class through OU. It will takeapproximately 2 business days to receive your enrollment information from OU.After you receive your login information from OU please start your class right away!Remember to keep pace and make sure that you will either finish the online class before skills/clinicalor you must at least be through module 8 and successfully completed dosage calc to qualify toattend skills/clinical.Once we have begun the class we will begin working on solidifying the skills/clinical schedule. Wecan have the schedule to you as soon as it is approved.What happens when the class is over?When the class is over, if you have successfully completed all 3 components of theNurse Refresher program, we will sign, seal, and send the information on each student whocompletes to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.*We reserve the right to change, without notice, any information within this document and pertainingto the Nurse Refresher program offered at Southern Tech.
