It is the applicant’sresponsibility to submit all required paperwork within the specified datesand times. Applications will be accepted during the spring semester.Specific date/times will be posted on the website.Selection ProcessThe Merced College RN Program class selection process is determinedusing the multi-criteria screening process established by the CaliforniaCommunity College Chancellor’s office in accordance with AB 1559. Amulti-criteria score is determined for each candidate based on previousdegrees/certificates, work/volunteer experience in a healthcare setting,identified coursework GPA, life experience/special circumstances, foreignlanguage proficiency and TEAS V or ATI TEAS assessment score. Thesestudents will be sequentially numbered from one to the maximum allowedfor the in-coming class, including a predetermined number of alternatestudents. Depending on the number of qualified applicants and constraintsof the Chancellor’s Office multi-criteria screening model, the selection poolwill vary in size from semester to semester.The minimum qualification for application includes a 2.5 GPA in Anatomy,Physiology, Microbiology, English-01A or ENGL-13 (or equivalent) andMath-C (or equivalent or higher). Minimum qualification also includes acomposite score of at least 62 on the TEAS V or ATI TEAS test. Studentsnot meeting these minimum qualifications are ineligible to apply.Multiple ApplicationsThere is no waiting list maintained for the R.N. Program. Applicants applyingto the program a consecutive time must follow directions located in the RNapplication handbook located on the website. The Allied Health Office hasyour file from the previous years’ selection. MERCED COLLEGE209.384.6000Preassessment Testing RequirementProspective RN program students must pass an assessment test, Testof Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) TEAS V or ATI TEAS. The “firsttest” result of the TEAS testing by ATI will need a minimum score of 62,otherwise the student will be ineligible to apply to the program. If a studenthas already taken TEAS V or ATI TEAS from another college, they needto include verification of this score with the application. As part of theapplication paperwork, we will be asking for students to sign and confirmthat their TEAS result is from a “first test”. Any false information providedon the application will be grounds for immediate disqualification. Limitedsupplies of review books may be checked out from the Learning ResourceCenter and other practice links may accessed on the Registering Nursingweb page. ATI does provide (for a fee) remediation and study guides ontheir website. We highly encourage students to prepare for the TEAS testdue to the need to achieve a 62 score.
