EXPERIENTIALL E A R N I N G S U M M A RYSummer 2014 - Spring 2015Summary Prepared By Montana Tech Career Services

INTRODUCTIONThis annual survey is conducted for the purpose of presenting information reported to CareerServices by students who have accepted degree-related work experiences. The data shouldbe viewed only as an informational resource since the responses to requests for informationare voluntary and do not reflect information for all students in degree-related work experiences. This summary is also completed as part of our continued effort to increase and expand ourinstitutional effectiveness.Degree-Related work experience can be defined as one of the following:Experiential Learning: Experiential learning refers to a work experience where furthering their degreerelated knowledge and clarifying career goals are the student’s primaryobjectives.Co-op:Abbreviation for Cooperative Education. A co-op is experiential learning wherethe student commits full-time to degree-related employment during a regularacademic semester in place of attending classes.Internship:An internship is experiential learning taken in conjunction with academic credit.Job Shadow:While job shadowing a student will observe and shadow an employer duringtheir day-to-day activities without extensive hands-on participation. This survey and archives of previous surveysare available online at:www.mtech.edu/career/surveysSpecial Notes:Some students have reported more than one experience during the reportedtime so the actual number of reported experiences may be higher than thenumber of participating students.Salary computations do not include volunteer experiences or job shadowingopportunities.Specific information on each of the different colleges can be found online atwww.mtech.edu/academics.Some degrees, i.e. Network Technology, combine the 2 year and 4 yearstudents.Internship credits are not required by all departments, but are stronglyrecommended.Insufficient Data (I/D): To keep salary information confidential, I/D is listed when less than threesalaries are reported.i
