BSW Prerequisites Overview 8 prerequisites: Human Biology/Anatomy/or Physiology, Intro/Micro/or Macro Economics,Intro Statistics, Intro Psychology, Intro Sociology, plus the 3 Social Work Core Courses The 3 Social Work Core Courses (SWRK 170, SWRK 200, SWRK 202) are offered at severalcommunity colleges and Chico State Please refer to this community college equivalency handout All prerequisites must be completed or in progress at the time you apply to theProfessional Sequence Application during the fall semester All prerequisites must be passed with a “C” grade or higher by the end of the fall termprior to starting the BSW Professional Sequence in the spring Additionally, A1, A2, A3, A4/B4 GE requirements must be completed to transfer

BSW Courses & Field Highlights Once accepted into the SWRK Professional Sequence, you become aSocial Work Major and have the following requirements for the major:q 12 - Professional Sequence Coursesq 1 - Social Work electiveq Field practicum (theof social work)q 480 hours - field practicum during senior year (16 hours per week)in Chico State’s School of Social Work service region Other remaining university requirements: GE upper division pathways,diversity requirements, US history, US constitution, science lab, etc. Consult your degree progress report (DPR) and academic advisorand/or DL advisor each semester for complete review of requirementsand to ensure on-time graduation. The University requires 120 semester units to receive a bachelor’s degree.

MSW Field Program Highlights Field practicum (theof social work) MSW DL 3-year students must fulfill the 1200 field practicum hoursrequirement as outlined:q First year - 0 hoursq Second year - 480 hours (or 16 hours per week)q Third year - 720 hours (or 24 hours per week) MSW DL 1-year students must complete 720 field hours (24 hours per week) MSW field practicum site/internship placement:q The Field Program assists students in field placementsq Possible employment-based internship for students who are currentlyemployed in a social service agency and meet the requirementsq Field Placement Requirements Information Field practicum hours must be completed in one of the following NorthernCalifornia Superior Region 18 counties: Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, Glenn,Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta,Sierra, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, and Yuba

These may becourses in Anatomy, Human Biology, Genetics, Sexuality, PhysicalPathologies, Nutrition, or Health.Ethnic Diversity or Multi-Cultural Studies – 3 units Ethnic Diversity or Multi-Cultural content through Multicultural andGender Studies, African American Studies, Asian American Studies,Latin American Studies, Chicano Studies, American Indian Studies,Religious Studies, Geological & Environmental Sciences,Geography, History, Literature, Sociology, Social Work, or PoliticalScience. Prerequisites must be passed with a grade C or higher Applicants will list each prerequisite course title, year, and semester attended,indicate college/institution, units earned, and list if this course has beencompleted or is in progress. Tuition & FeesThe School of Social Work DistributedLearning Program is a state-supportedprogram, and therefore, follows the samefee schedule as the traditional program.The CSU makes every effort to keep studentcosts to a minimum. Fees listed in publishedschedules or in student accounts may needto be increased when public funding isinadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve theright, even after initial fee payments aremade, to increase or modify any listed fees,without notice, until the date wheninstruction for a particular semester orquarter has begun.The estimated fees stated above vary each year.
