ABOUT THE EDUCATION FUNDThe SEIU UHW-West and Joint Employer Education Fund’s mission is to provideeducation and training that maximizes healthcare workers’ talents, proactively meetscurrent and future workforce needs, and assures quality patient care.We offer a range of education and training benefits to eligible employeesrepresented by SEIU throughout California and parts of Colorado, Nevada, Oregonand Washington.Employees at participating hospitals who are represented by SEIU can accesscareer counseling and career workshops during and after probationary periods.After probation, benefited employees are eligible for all Education Fund programsand services included in this publication. CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF CHANGING LIVESDear Colleague,The Education Fund is celebrating a decade of providing critical training andeducation programs to address the current and future needs of the healthcareworkforce. The Education Fund currently has 90,000 eligible members across 6 localSEIU unions, 18 employers, and 5 states.As an Education Fund union trustee since 2010, I have come to appreciate themagnitude of this benefit. The Education Fund is a partnership between Labor andManagement, driven by the belief that access to education is not only critical tocareer advancement, it is life changing. I fondly recall a strategic planning sessionattended by both Labor and Employers. Everyone put aside their allegiances to focuson the future needs of healthcare workers and how to meet employers’ needs whilesimultaneously giving employees the opportunity to advance.As I look toward the future, I am excited by our potential to train the nextgeneration of diverse healthcare workers.
