Cherbourg Drug and Alcohol Youth ServiceThe Cherbourg Drug and Alcohol Youth Service is a free and confidential alcohol and drug treatment service forpeople under 25 with complex alcohol and other drug concerns. The service also targets young people who are at riskof engaging in substance use. Individual counselling and group programs are available for young people as well asparents and significant others. Salvation Army Townsville (YYAROS)Youth and Young Adult Recovery Outreach Service (YYAROS) is an outreach program for the Salvation Army. It’s anAssertive Community Outreach funded by Queensland Government (Health) to provide Psychosocial Interventions to15 to 25 years olds using alcohol and other drugs. It supports individuals in the geographical area which covers Ingham,Charters Towers, Ayr, Palm Island and Townsville.Services:There are three parts to the program:1) Education - partners with organisations already active in the community to multiply their effectiveness. The outreachbrings an AOD education component tailored to the particular context. One of the goals being to utilise this as areferral pathway into the service (assertive community outreach approach).2) Diversion - for all participants, including individuals both ready and pre-contemplative in regards to changing theirAOD use. This aims to build a community with a positive culture of peer support which engages in positive socialevents as well as life skills group work. This stage of the service utilises the Positive Lifestyle Program and LifeJETvalues based goal setting tool (where needed).3) Intervention - the Bridge program will be utilized to support those ready to change their relationship with AOD,ideally within in a group work context.Length of involvement in the program is not time limited.
