Jog-a-thon 2017Thanks to the entire Balboa Magnet Community for helping to organize and executeanother Jog-a-thon. Not only does this event raise money to help maintain ourenrichment programs -- Computer Lab, Science Lab, Music, and Physical Education -but is also a fun school community event that brings us all together. There are many volunteers that helped make Jog-a-thon 2017 a success. ObviouslyMs. Davenport played her usual support role and kept things in focus. Leila, Rosalie, and Debra have to know how important they are as ex officio BSC officers. If they don't,here's my thanks on behalf of us all.Our Jog-a-thon dress rehearsal on Thursday was thanks to Ms. Taguchi and our thirdgrade teachers, who made sure all students participated. Alan Au provided his usualoutstanding DJ and Emcee services. Coach Amour put the track together and inspiredevery class that participated. My friends in the cafeteria helped make sure our runnerswere hydrated.Without Maureen Cohen and Stella Samuel, this event would not have happened. Thatis not hyperbole, it is the truth. There were so many volunteers helping out before, during, and after Jog-a-thon. Theyknow who they are and I hope they received my personal note of thanks. If not, I amhappy to express it here. I just put a few things together and crossed my fingers. You allmade it work. In the end, our kids are the winners. That's how it should be.Don LukenbillJog-a-thon ChairTALLY SHEETS GO OUT THIS WEEK!Be on the look out for lap tallies and pledge sheets in backpacks. Please honor yourpledges and make your student runners proud. Pledges are due by Friday, March 31st.Questions? Email to wordsmith works@yahoo.com.
