WELCOME TO CLEVERWelcome to Clever. Where it just does get better every day. Cleverwas incorporated in 1896 and operates on a Council-Mayor form ofgovernment. We are located between Billings and Nixa on Hwy 14and just south of Republic on P Hwy.People come to Clever to start and raise a family because we havean outstanding school system, low crime rate, and local businesses.The small rural community has been one of the fastest growingcities in Christian county over the last decade. Our population hasrisen from 1010 to more than 2139 in the last census. Along witha growing residential community, we have continued to have goodbusiness growth as well. Some of our businesses include DollarGeneral, Subway, Casey’s, Kum N Go, Family Pharmacy, Murfins’Market, two tire shops, and an independent auto parts store. Wehave numerous restaurants including some new food carts.The City is in cooperation with the school and MoDot to advancethe community by completing Phase 3 of the “Transportation Enhancement Program” with building more sidewalks. The schooldistrict itself is one of the best in the region, and has completedbuilding a second FEMA storm shelter.We strive to provide effective and efficient services to our citizensin Clever. FEMA STORM SHELTERSClever School & CommunityTornado Safe Room InformationThe Tornado Safe Rooms are owned and operated by theClever RV School District and their primary function is toprovide protection for the students and staff during tornadicevents during school hours.The Tornado Safe Rooms will also be available for residentsin the community who do not have basements or other saferooms and live within the Tornado Protection Zone (TPZ),which is one half mile around each FEMA shelter.If you have any physical impairments, special medical alerts oran aide animal then a Special Needs form must be completedand returned to the school before an event occurs. The form isavailable on the Clever School website:www.cleverbluejays.org1) Clever Elemiddle Cafeteria (capacity of 1,550)103 S. FEMA STORM SHELTERS CONT’DBelow are the guidelines for the FEMA shelters:During School Hours8 AM - 4PMTornado Watch: The designated Safe Room Area will becleared if necessary and readied for occupancy should awarning be issued.Tornado Warning: Students will report to the FEMA shelter.TPZ residents may proceed to the Safe Room to seek shelter.Safe Rooms remain open until watch and/or warning hasexpired or been cancelled by NWS.During Non-School Hours4PM – 8 AMTornado Watch: The Safe Room will be unlocked andprepared for occupancy should a warning be issued.Tornado Warning: TPZ residents may proceed to the SafeRoom to seek shelter.Safe Rooms remain open until watch and/or warning hasexpired or been cancelled by NWS.CCBA 2019 Directory pg. 9
