IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIESKnowledge of basic anatomy and physiology is a critical foundational skill required across most alliedhealth professions. The flexibility of delivery with NHA’s Anatomy & Physiology allows facilitators theability to implement the product when and where it makes sense within an individual program.1. Review the overall product, module by module. This includes the enrichment items. It would be bestto complete all modules to become familiar with the content. If time does not allow for that, pickseveral modules that are different from one another (i.e., the muscular system and the digestivesystem) and complete those.2. Decide how the product will be implemented into your program.a. Will Anatomy & Physiology be used in one specific course or across multiple courses (as in a wheelstructure)?b. Will the course be delivered in person, online, or in a hybrid format?c. What is the time frame for the course? Over how many weeks will the content be delivered?3. Plan for implementation.a. If Anatomy & Physiology will be a standalone resource, match the course outcomes to each module.b. If Anatomy & Physiology will be implemented across multiple courses, match the content to theappropriate courses or units.c. A transition guide from several Anatomy & Physiology textbooks is included in the FTK to assistwith this process.Pathways to ImplementationPath 1Path 2Standalone CourseThreaded throughout Multiple CoursesThe course will be separate fromother courses in the programThe resource will be used in a wheel program in whichthe modules are threaded throughout the programCan be used in class, online, or in a hybrid environment Can be used in class, online, or in a hybrid environmentCopyright 2020 Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC. IMPLEMENTATION IN 10-WEEK, 12WEEK, AND 16-WEEK COURSESNHA’s Anatomy & Physiology is designed to be an interactive resource that engages users in learningbasic anatomical structures and general physiology.Best practices point toward the initial use of the product while in class (in person or online). Thisallows the facilitator to ensure all learners can log into the product and navigate through the firstmodule. Once they are comfortable with accessing the modules, the remainder of their work with theresource can be done outside of the course environment. Learners would complete assigned modulesoutside of class and then come prepared to participate in classroom activities that allow them topractice the knowledge they have gained. The tables below provide recommendations on how to implement the resource over 10-week,12-week, and 16-week course terms.10-week Term*CourseWeek12ModuleModule NameModule 1Organization of Human BodyModule 2Chemistry, Matter, and LifeModule 3Module NameModule 12Endocrine System: Glandsand HormonesModule 16Lymphatic System andLymphoid TissueCells and Their FunctionsModule 17ImmunityModule 5Disease and DiseaseProducing OrganismsModule 14The Heart and Heart DiseaseModule 25Heredity and HereditaryDiseasesModule 15Blood Vessels andBlood CirculationModule 4Tissues, Glands, andMembranesModule 13Blood34CourseWeek Module678Module 6Integumentary SystemModule 18Respiratory SystemModule 7Skeletal SystemModule 19Digestive SystemModule 8Muscular SystemModule 20Metabolism, Nutrition, andBody Temperature9Module 9Nervous System: The SpinalCord and Spinal NervesModule 21Urinary SystemModule 10Nervous System: The Brainand Cranial NervesModule 22Body FluidsModule 11Sensory SystemModule 23Male and FemaleReproductive SystemsModule 24Development and Birth510*Courses offered in a 5-week term could double up these modules (i.e., modules 1-3, 5, and 25would be completed in week 1; modules 4 and 6-8 would be completed in week 2, etc.).Copyright 2020 Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC. LEARNER DASHBOARDEach time the product is accessed, the learnersees the following.1. When the module is due for completion (asassigned by the facilitator)—January 15, 2021, inthis case.2. How many practice activities have beencompleted. Each time the learner leaves theproduct, the practice activities reset, so theycan be repeated. Note, however, that the countof completed activities doesn’t reset; it picks upfrom where the learner left off.3. Quiz results (for the most recent attempt).ANALYTICS AND REPORTINGIncluded with NHA’s Anatomy & Physiology arerobust analytics with views for an entire class orindividual students. These show key engagement andperformance metrics at the course and module levels.Engagement is measured by time spent as well asactivities completed, allowing the facilitator and learnera means to track progress and allow for remediationand planning.1. Seat time measures the amount of time learnersspend in the product.2. Progress shows how many practice activities havebeen completed for each module.3. Quiz results are shown as a percentage score. An answer key is included.A new reporting feature also shows quiz detail. Thisidentifies questions by module topic and flags topicswhere an individual learner (or an entire class) maybe struggling. This will help facilitators mitigate asappropriate, whether by assigning additional learning(such as enrichment resources) to an individual orfocusing on a challenging topic in class.Copyright 2020 Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC.
