About KIITKalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, known by its acronym KIIT, is one of theleading universities in India renowned for the quality of teaching and research. It wasfounded in 1992-93 in a rented house with 12 students and 2 teachers as an IndustrialTraining Institute in Bhubaneswar. It was in this period when India was moving slowlytowards globalisation, and private education was unpopular. It is solely due to the dedication, devotion and grit of theFounder and contribution from the hardworking staff and well-wishers, that KIIT Deemedto be University has become one of the premier educational hubs in India.With its base year in 1997 with just three programmes - Engineering, MBA & MCA,KIIT’s commitment to excellence led to the grant of Deemed to be University status underSection 3 of UGC Act, 1956 by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in 2004. KIIT has thedistinction of being the youngest institute of the country to get a University status in sixyears. This unique achievement gave it a place in the Limca book of Records. It is indeedincredible to state that in a short time span of time, KIIT has achieved incredible feats inranking amongst the top colleges in this country. KIIT has been recognised as an‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Government of India. It has been ranked No. 1 amongself-financing institutions of the country in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on InnovationAchievements (ARIIA), 2020 of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. KIIT’sComputer Science Faculty has been ranked in the band of 501-600 by The Times HigherEducation World University Rankings 2021. It is also pertinent to mention that KIIT hasbeen ranked in 601-800 band for its Engineering and Technology streams. IntroductionA Scholarship is financial aid given to a student because of academic merit with thepurpose of encouraging such students in their academic pursuits. This will lead to anenhancement of the chance of their being employable and ideally to realize a pansocioeconomic parity. This booklet is compiled with the intention of providing ahandbook of information that is related to scholarship schemes awarded to the students.All information in this booklet is valid upto the year of its publication. Changes on anymatter, if any, will be subsequently incorporated in future revised editions.3

Institute FundingKIIT-MERIT SCHOLARSHIP(Students pursing UG & PG course in KIIT-DU Granting Agency: KIIT-DU)IntroductionKIIT Merit Scholarship offers financial support to the meritorious students pursuing UG& PG course in KIIT Deemed to be University. Assessment of merit is based on theacademic record or performance in semester exams.EligibilityKIIT Merit Scholarship is provided to the KIIT students securing 1st, 2nd & 3rd positionin each semester based on their CGPA for a period of six months for all the courseshaving student strength more than 120. For the courses having student strength less than60, scholarship is provided to the student securing 1st position in each semester. In caseof tie in CGPA, selection is done on the basis of SGPA. At least 75% attendance in each semester. At least 7.5 SGPA in each semester. Should not be involved in any act of indiscipline. KIITEE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP(KIITEE Rank holders admitted in KIIT Granting Agency: KIIT-DU)KIIT provides free education to the topper of KIITEE (Only for B.Tech. - 4years) ifadmitted in KIIT. In addition, KIIT provides scholarship to top 1000 rank holders ofKIITEE (only for B.Tech.- 4 years) during his/her study period at KIIT subject tofulfilment of scholarship renewal criteria.Eligibility Admissible only during the study period at KIIT-DU. Should maintain at least 75% attendance in each semester. Should secure at least 7.5 SGPA in each semester. Clears all the paper in first attempt (no back paper) Should not be involved in any act of indiscipline. It supportsmeritorious students, whose parent’s income does not exceed Rs. 4.50 lakhs perannum. Under the Scheme, student’s tuition fees are waived. However, thebeneficiary needs to pay all other fees, except tuition fees. Tribal student :KISS students pursuing UG, PG & Ph.D programme in KIIT Deemed to beUniversity will be provided waiver of full fees.8

TUITION FEE WAIVER SCHEME (TFW)(Family Income less than Rs. 4.5 lakh per)Seats up to maximum 5 percent of sanctioned intake in B.Tech course shall be availableunder Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW). These seats shall be supernumerary in nature.Under the Scheme, students get complete tuition fee waiver. The waiver is limited totuition fee and students need to pay all other expenses.Eligibility The scholarship will be offered to students who have a family income less than Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.M.Tech. FellowshipThe students who are receiving assistantship will be required to devote 8-10 hours perweek as teaching/research assistant in their respective departments. This could includetutorials, laboratory classes, development and maintenance of laboratories, assistance inresearch and development activities undertaken by faculty members. Dean of therespective department will certify the engagement of each of the students for the releaseof the assistantship every month.Renewal Eligibility Should secure at least 6.5 SGPA and 7 CGPA in each semester. Theamount and period of scholarship is decided based on the need of the selected students.The decision of the selection committee for selection of such students will be final.SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF COVID DECEASED PERSONS OFODISHA(Odia students, wards of Covid deceased Granting Agency: KIIT-DU)In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, KIIT-DU has launched a Special Covid Scholarshipfor Odia students, who are sons and daughters of the Covid deceased. However, theprovision of such scholarship will be based strictly on the merit and eligibility of thestudents. This facility will be available for two academic years, 2020-21 and 2021-229

only. Preference will be given to the children of Covid deceased from BPL, SC, ST andSEBC categories. This Scholarship is meant to encourage and support the haplessstudents’ aspiration for pursuing professional education in the midst of the havoc.Award Tuition fees WaivedKIIT University India Scholarship Program (KUISP)With an aim to provide quality education to international student community, KIITUniversity offers KUISP scholarship to students from 70 countries.KIIT is committed to attracting the very best students, regardless of financialcircumstances, under KUISP scholarship. KIIT University promotes KUISP scholarshipsin international countries with the support of Foreign Missions in India and partnerinstitutes in international countries.Eligibility Students applying for UG, PG and PH.D courses (except MBBS, Dental, Nursingand Architecture courses) under the KUISP scholarship. The scholarship is offered based on merit.Award KIIT offers both 100% and 50% scholarships on the total fee for internationalstudents which would cover their Tuition Fee, Books, A.C. accommodation, Multicuisine mess facility, 24/7 library and internet access. Scholarship will also coverlaptop, registration and examination fees as well.10

Government & Other AgencyE-KALYAN SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME(Post Matric SC / ST / BC & Jharkhand Resident Granting Agency: Govt. Of Jharkhand)This Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is applicable only for the permanent and localresidents of the state of Jharkhand belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), ScheduledTribe (ST) and Backward Class (BC) categories.Eligibility Student must be of Jharkhand State. Student must be either Schedule Tribe (ST) or Schedule Caste (SC) or Backward Class(BC). POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR OBC STUDENTS (TRIPURA)(OBC & Tripura Resident Granting Agency: MSJ&E, GOVT. of India)Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India is the grantingagency of this Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students from Tripura.Eligibility Domicile of Tripura state Belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC) category For intermediate, graduate, postgraduate or doctoralrecognized institutes/colleges Annual family income not exceeding INR 1,50,000/-courses fromAward Selected students under this scheme get a maintenance allowance of upto INR 750/- per month and several other benefits.MUKHYAMANTRI MEDHAVI VIDYARTHI YOJANA (MMVY)(SC / ST / OBC / Minorities & M P resident Granting Agency: Govt. of Madhya Pradesh)Run by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, MMVY scholarships are an initiative toprovide financial assistance to students of the state. The government has introduced itsown state scholarship portal to enlist all its scholarships schemes available for thestudents belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other BackwardClasses (OBC) and Minorities.Eligibility The students who have passed their class 12th with 75% or above marks (fromSecondary Education Board of Madhya Pradesh) or 85% or above marks (fromCBSE/ICSE board). The annual income of the family should not be more than INR 6 Lakh from allsources. The students should be enrolled in an undergraduate level of course at arecognised institution or university. The engineering aspirants are expected to have qualified JEE Mains examinationwith rank less than 50,000. The medical aspirants are expected to have taken admissiongovernment/private medical or dental college through NEET merit.toa12

Odisha State Scholarship Portal envisions tobridge the gap between the scholarship providers and scholarship seekers thus,encouraging more students to be in the system. Post-Matric Scholarship for ST/SC Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC/SEBCEligibility Student should belong to ST/SC/OBC/SEBC/EBC community. Student should be permanent resident of Odisha. The students should continue their Post Matriculation Studies in anygeneral/technical or professional courses in any Govt. or Govt. recognized Privateinstitutes. The annual family income of the parent/guardians from all sources in case ofST/SC students should not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- per annum. MEDHABRUTI SCHOLARSHIP(Economically weak background & Odisha Resident Granting Agency: Govt. of odisha)The Medhabruti Scholarship is awarded by the Government of Odisha to encourage andmotivate deserving students from economically weak backgrounds to pursue highereducation in the General, Technical, and Professional fields. The Medhabruti scholarshipscheme provides financial assistance to the students who are domicile of Odisha.Interested applicants should visit the Medhabruti Scholarship online portal.Eligibility The student must be a permanent resident of Odisha state. The income of the parents of the student from all sources should not exceed Rs.6lakh per annum. The student must have secured minimum 60% marks in the examination fordifferent categories of merit. MAULANA AZAD NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP FOR MINORITY STUDENTS(Minority students M.Phil/Ph.D student Granting Agency: Ministry of Minority Affairs throughUGC)It is a fellowship scheme implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs through UGC.Started with the objective to provide integrated five-year fellowships in the form offinancial assistance, MANF encourages students of minority communities to pursuehigher studies such as M.Phil./Ph.D. in Science, Humanities, Social Science andEngineering & Technology.Eligibility Prior clearance of CBSE/NTA-UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET examination. Should belong to one of the minority communities –Muslim, Christian, Sikh,Buddhist, Parsi & Jain notified under Section 2 (c) of the National Commissionfor Minorities Act, 1992. Should submit the minority community certificate on an actionable and legallyvalid affidavit, until the State Government/Union Territory administration starts toissue the minority community certificate. Should be registered for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses inUniversity/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of thatUniversity/Institution. The annual income of the beneficiary/parents or guardian of the beneficiary shouldnot exceed Rs. 6.0 lakh per annum from all sources. Should have secured a minimum score of 55% at Post Graduate level. Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme. The reservationshall be followed as per Government of India norms.Award Monthly fellowship amount of INR 31,000/- for initial two years to JRF and afellowship amount of INR 35,000/- per month for remaining tenure to SRF alongwith contingency grant and escorts/reader assistance for differently-abledcandidates.TOP CLASS EDUCATION SCHEME FOR SC STUDENTS(SC students Granting Agency: MSJ&E, Govt. of India)The Scheme aims at recognizing and promoting quality education amongst studentsbelonging to SCs, by providing full financial support. The scheme will cover SC studentsfor pursuing studies beyond 12th class. The scheme will operate in all institutes notifiedby the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.15

Eligibility SC students who have secured admission in the notified institutions according tothe norms prescribed by the respective institutions will be eligible to the extentof the number of scholarships allocated in the institute concerned. Must have completed Class 12 th Must have taken admission in a full-time course in a notified institutionthrough general selection criteria prescribed by respective institution . Must belong to a family with the annual income less than INR 6 lakh fromall sources.Award Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges of upto INR 2 lakh perannum for private sector institutions and up to INR 3.72 lakh per annum forprivate sector flying club for Commercial Pilot Training and Type RatingCourses. Living expense: INR 2,220/- per month. Books and stationery: INR 3,000/- per annum. Computer/Laptop with UPS and Printer of any reputed brand INR 45,000/(one-time assistance).PRAGATI SCHOLARSHIP(Girls Student Granting Agency: MHRD)Pragati is a MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE aimed at providing assistancefor Advancement of Girls pursuing Technical Education. Education is one of the mostimportant means of empowering women with the knowledge, skill and self confidencenecessary to participate fully in the development process. It attempts to give youngwomen the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future by“Empowering Women through Technical Education”.Eligibility The candidate should be admitted to 1st year of Degree/Diploma course in any ofthe AICTE approved Institution of respective year through Centralized Admissionprocess of the State/Central Government. Two girls child per family are eligible. Family income should not be more than INR 8 lakh per annum during thepreceding financial year (in case of married girl, the income of parents/in-laws,whichever is higher will be considered).16

The candidate must be pursuing a technical degree/diploma course in the First yearor Second year (through lateral entry only) on the basis of percentage of marksobtained in the 10 2/equivalent examinationAward The selected students will receive INR 50,000/- per annum for every year of studyas a lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer,books, stationery, equipment, software, etc. No other additional grant will bepayable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges, etc.RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP(SC/ST/M/Phil & Ph.D Granting Agency: MSJ&E and Ministry of Tribal Affairs))The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste andScheduled Tribes is formulated and funded by Ministry of Social Justice &Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme is open to candidates fromScheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe categories and wish to pursue higher studies such asregular and full time M.Phil. & Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciencesand Engineering & Technology.Eligibility The candidate should belong to SC/ST category and should have passed the PostGraduate examination. The selection will be made on the basis of merit of thecandidates. The candidate must get himself/herself registered for M.Phil./Ph.D at the firstavailable opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from thereceipt of award letter. This period is not extendable. The actual payment of fellowship will be made with effect from the date of joiningonly.Award Fellowship amount of up to INR 28,000/- per month along with contingency grant,HRA and escorts/reader allowance for physically handicapped and blindcandidates.INDIRA GANDHI SINGLE GIRL CHILD SCHOLARSHIP(Single Girl Child from girl students up to 30 years of age Granting Agency: UGC)Girl students of up to 30 years of age, who happen to be the only girl child intheir families, are eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship aims to promotegirl education and compensate for the direct costs of her education to all levels.Eligibility Be a girl student of up to 30 years of age. Be the only child of the family.17
