VOLUNTEER NEWSJANUARY VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTHBURCH & JACKIE JOHNSONTo kick off our year, we’re going to celebrate it by celebrating not one butTWO of our longest supporters/volunteers not only at the Center but in ourcity. Burch and Jackie Johnson. Burch was our first mayor. His passion forthis community and for seniors had a pivotal role in helping us get startedand in capturing the funding for this amazing facility. Burch along with hiswife Jackie are always willing to help in any volunteer role as needed. Youwill see their smiling faces as they serve as greeters on Wednesday mornings. You might see Mrs. Jackie’s smiling face in the kitchen as she always is agreeable to help out as needed. You might have seen Burch as hegallantly escorted our parade float this year or as he has many times helpedus get ready for special events. YOU will see that they are not only avidvolunteers for MCOTL but for the community that they so dearly love.Wow, 2020! Hard to believe. Hope that 2020 becomes everything that you want it to be. As I reflectover this past year I’ve realized how lucky I am to be your volunteer coordinator. You’ve filled my life withlaughter, hugs, smiles, conversations and good food.I am amazed of the people that walk through our doors that become our extended family. The community that we’ve created is one that we all should be proud of.On a side note, if there are things you really want to do, please share those ideas with me. Even if it’ssharing our time and talents with another organization that can benefit from our generosity. I am always opento new ideas.NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!Make a change in someone’s life this year.Grateful,KimVOLNTFEBRUARY VOLUNTEER OF THEMONTHBARBARA HOYLEOur volunteer for the month of February is Ms. Barbara. Barbara Hoyle as many say, “Mrs. Barbara is a, “breath of freshair.” This lady spreads love everywhere she goes and alwayshas a kind word of encouragement for everyone. She happilywashes dishes in our café 2 days a week which she has done foryears and is willing to do any other task when asked. Sometimes these request are on the spur of the moment. When Mrs.Barbara isn’t hanging out with us she enjoys her church, goingto garage sales and walking her cute little dog.5 The Spotlight
