The UniversityCore MissionHistoryFounded in 1933 by the Sisters of the Presentation ofMary and Sister Madeleine of Jesus, Rivier University isa Catholic institution of higher education dedicated totransforming hearts and minds to serve the world.Rivier University is named in honor of Blessed AnneMarie Rivier, Foundress of the Sisters of thePresentation of Mary. Established in 1933 in Hudson,New Hampshire, the University moved in 1941 to thepresent campus site in Nashua. The University wasincorporated in 1935 under the laws of the State of NewHampshire, and through two separate charters wasinvested with the power to confer both graduate andundergraduate degrees. The Benoit Education CenterUniversity FacilitiesThe Division of Education and Counseling is located inthe University's Benoit Education Center. The 43,000square-foot building contains state-of-the-art classroomswith advanced technological resources, an eight-roomearly childhood center/laboratory school for children from6 weeks to six years of age, an educational resourcecenter, counseling rooms with one-way observationwindows; classroom laboratories; observation andseminar rooms for early childhood classrooms; severalmulti-media classrooms enhanced with electronicwhiteboards, LCD projectors and projection screens; acomputer laboratory; and faculty offices. The ChoEducational Resource library is an extensive curriculumlibrary/education resource center with recently publishedtextbooks, software, and other media.The CampusThe University is located on a 68-acre campus one milefrom downtown Nashua in a quiet residential area. Easyaccess to Boston provides students with opportunitiesfor intellectual, cultural, and social enrichment. Proximityto the seacoast and to the White Mountains of NewHampshire offers additional recreational advantages.The services of Logan and Manchester Airports, Bostonrailway stations, and local bus lines allow convenienttravel to and from campus.Academic Technology ServicesInformation Technology provides students withtechnology to facilitate coursework and research. Sixcomputer labs are located across campus. Rivier virtualdesktops are available from any device connected to theinternet. The Regina Library also has a classroomequipped with 23 PCs as well as many other high-speedcomputers that can be used for research, writing apaper, completing assignments, printing, etc. The libraryhas a limited number of laptop computers to loan tostudents on a short-term temporary basis. All computersare connected to the Rivier University network andprovide direct access to the Internet. Standard softwareincludes Microsoft Office 365. Courses are taught usingthe latest industry and academic standard software.Cho Educational Resource CenterThe Cho Educational Resource Center (ERC) is abranch of the Regina Library and is located on thesecond floor of the Benoit Education Center. The ERChouses a unique collection of materials that supportcurriculum development and lesson planning forstudents in the majors of education and counseling. Allstudents are welcome to use the ERC. The itemsavailable are those that could be found in a typicalclassroom, such as textbooks, instructional kits, games,and educational software. The ERC also has juvenilebooks, including picture books, easy readers, and nonfiction books. The Project Room offers a space forstudents to create cut-outs for bulletin board projects,games, etc. Students may utilize the lamination andbinding services at the ERC for education coursespecific assignments. The open main room, tables, andgroup study room foster an environment of collaborationand discussion among students working on group orindividual projects. There are also computers, printers, acopier, and a scanner for students to use at the ERC.The Academic Support CenterRivier's Academic Support Center offers a number ofservices to all Rivier students. Staffed by professionalwriting consultants, and peer tutors, the Center servesstudents of all abilities. Writing consultants assiststudents with their writing projects in any of theircourses. Peer tutors provide help in all major disciplines;some lead supplemental instruction sessions for selectcourses. Any Rivier student may take advantage ofreserved appointments and drop-in services provided bywriting consultants and content-specific peer tutors.Dion Campus CenterDion Center, the University's only 24/7 facility sits at thegeographic center of campus. This facility is home to theUniversity Bookstore, the Dining Center, the Office ofPublic Safety & Security, the Office of Student Affairs,Student Engagement, Multicultural StudentEngagement, Campus Ministry, Student Government,and the Student Organization Club room, and manystudent-centered engagement offices. Dion Center alsohouses several meeting and conference spaces(including the 5,000 sq. ft. Dion Reception Room).Services provided by Public Safety include assistancewith room lockouts, lost property, incident reporting,medical assistance, motor vehicle assistance, escortservice, and campus security and crime prevention. Inthe Dining Center, students will find signature brandsand enticing menu selections. There is a wide variety offresh food designed to satisfy everyone's appetite. TheOffice of Campus Ministry serves the spiritual, social andpersonal needs of the campus community, providingopportunities where values are challenged, and faith isaffirmed.Adrienne HallAdrienne Hall houses the Office of Academic Affairs, theOffice of the Registrar, Financial Aid and StudentAccounts. Each student is assigned a financial aidadvisor to help answer questions and provide guidance.From assistance with filling out the Free Application forFinancial Aid (FAFSA) for the first time to helpingstudents to determine how much aid to accept-FinancialAid and Student Accounts staff is located here to answerquestions and provide guidance The Office of theRegistrar is available to help students with requests fortranscripts, registration, course schedules, transfercredits, and more. Raider Athletics, but also as a resource for local youthand community groups.Heritage PlazaHeritage Plaza is a place of sacred beauty reflecting theUniversity's Catholic heritage and a campus focal point.The Plaza is located on South Main Street in the heart ofRivier's campus. Heritage Plaza is comprised of a maingathering space featuring the sculpture; a short walkwayto a circular terrace of personalized brick pavers donatedby alumni, friends, faculty, and staff; and steps leadingdown to the Campus Quad. The commissioned bronzestatue was created by sculptress Silvia Nicolas of MontVernon, New Hampshire. In its entirety, the plazastructure provides a clear path across campus fromMadeleine Hall (the Office of Admissions) through to theCampus Quad and Dion Center.Memorial HallMemorial Hall is one of the main classroom buildings oncampus and the location of the Office of GlobalEngagement and the Rivier University Art Gallery. Foranyone wanting to spend a semester abroad, GlobalEngagement coordinates these opportunities, as well asproviding teaching trips to places like Costa Rica, Africa,and China. The Office of Global Engagement runsacademic, co-curricular, and campus-wide programs thathelp students better understand nations and culturesaround the world, join intercultural partnerships, andtravel to other countries through immersive experiences.The Art Gallery at Rivier University presents exhibitionsthat complement and enhance the University's academicofferings. Exhibitions and receptions for the artists arefree and open to the public.Laboratories: Behavioral Science andClinical Psychology LabsPsychology students have access to a clinical laboratorywhich offers a room for mock therapy sessions, testingand assessment activities, and supervised clinicalexperiments. The facility is equipped with a one-wayobservation mirror and audio visual recordingequipment. In addition, the laboratory has a computerroom and a separate instruction area and gatheringspace for student interaction. The department also has abehavioral science laboratory that offers space andinstrumentation to design experiments, collect data,analyze, and interpret results obtained from originalresearch studies conducted under the mentorship ofRivier faculty. The lab houses five computer stationsequipped with Empirisoft MediaLab and DirectRTsoftware packages, which allow for millisecond precisionin measuring cognition and perception from humansubjects and with SPSS for data analysis.Muldoon Health and Fitness CenterRivier students, faculty and staff utilize the MuldoonHealth and Fitness Center in pursuit of a healthylifestyle. The Fitness Center and Gymnasium is namedfor Pelham, New Hampshire resident Teresa QuiglyMuldoon after she provided a substantial bequest to theUniversity in 1984. The Fitness Center is an addition tothe Muldoon Gymnasium and was opened in January of2011. The building is home to Rivier Athletics as ithouses all the coaches offices, training room and servesas the home court for Men's/Women's Basketball andMen's/Women's Volleyball.Facility Information: 15, 485 Square Foot Facility, including FitnessRoom and Gymnasium Cardio machines 2,500 Square Feet of Heavy Lifting space - Freeweights, power platforms Bathroom, Shower and Locker Room areas 2,000 Square Foot Athletic Training Clinic 6 work stations, 3 tape stations, hot tub, cold tub,hydro collator, electric muscle stimulation/ultrasoundmachineThe Learning CommonsThe Learning Commons is a destination that fosterscollaborative learning and student success. This 15,000square-foot facility houses academic support servicesand provides opportunities for students to work in teams,use digital resources, receive assistance from peermentors and tutors, and access career services. TheLearning Center includes the Academic Support Center,Career & Academic Advising, Disability Services,Counseling and Wellness Center, UniversityAdvancement and Alumni Relations. Assembling theseservices in one location has been shown to positivelyimpact student learning outcomes.Raider DiamondRaider Diamond, the home of the Raiders Softball team,is a beautiful natural grass facility. Measuring 200 feetfrom home plate to every area of the outfield, RaiderDiamond is one of the most plush grass fields in thearea. An extensive improvement to the facility in thesummer of 2019 gave the field a much needed facelift.The Diamond was transformed into the best Softballfacility in the area as dugouts, bullpen, stadium styleseating and a state of the art press box wereconstructed. The diamond is located on top of the hillpast Joanne Merrill Field. Parking is located behindSilvia Trotter Hall off Clement Street.Linda Robinson PavilionIn October of 2018, Rivier University broke ground onadding an Athletics Pavilion to the multi-sport turf field toenhance the game-day experience for Raider studentathletes and fans alike. The Pavilion provides stadiumstyle seating and facilities for fans, four team lockerrooms, an athletic training room with workstations, and apress box which will allow for live stats and video for allevents hosted at Joanne Merrill Field. The stadiumstands atop one of the highest points in the city ofNashua and serves not only as the home of Rivier8

Regina LibraryLaboratories and equipment designed to solve realworld problems, Technology that brings the world of science into theclassroom, Collaborative spaces to foster faculty and studentresearch.Our students put theory into practice through hands-onassignments and research projects. Students havetested and cleaned up local ponds, evaluated theantimicrobial of homeopathic remedies; and conductedresearch in the biology of reproduction, cancer, ecology,and immunology. Together with their faculty, ourstudents conduct sophisticated laboratory diagnosticprocedures in courses such as microbiology andimmunology, and test their knowledge and develop skillsthrough real-world assignments and research projects.The Regina Library and the Cho Educational ResourceCenter are the resource libraries for students, facultyand staff. The library staff, in collaboration with theUniversity faculty, serves the research needs of thecommunity. To meet a diversified curriculum and theacademic requirements of the Rivier Universitycommunity, the libraries currently have more than100,000 print volumes, subscribe to roughly 145 journaltitles (of which about 70 are electronic), and patronshave online access through the library website to morethan 240,000 electronic books and approximately 80online journal research databases (which provide accessto approximately 75,000 additional electronic journals). Areference librarian is available at the library for morethan 90 hours each week.
