Know What To ExpectHere’s what to expect from the actual exam, which costs 150 USDand allows for 130 minutes to complete:Response TypesThere are two types of questions on theexamination: Multiple-choice: One correct response andthree incorrect responses (distractors). Multiple-response: Two or more correctresponses out of five or more options.Select one or more responses that bestcomplete the statement or answer the question.Distractors are plausible response options for thecontent area that an examinee with incompleteknowledge or skill would likely choose.Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect;there is no penalty for guessing.Unscored ContentYour examination may include non-scoredquestions that are placed on the test to gatherstatistical information. These questions arenot identified on the form, and do not affectyour score.Exam Results This is a pass or fail exam scored againsta minimum standard established by AWSprofessionals guided by certification-industrybest practices and guidelines. Your results are reported as a score from 100- 1000, with a minimum passing score of 720.Scaled scoring models are used to equatescores across multiple exam forms that mayhave slightly different difficulty levels. Your score report contains a table ofclassifications of your performance at eachsection level. You do not need to “pass”the individual sections, only the overallexamination. Each section has a specificweighting, so some have more questionsthan others.
