As youread through our newsletter, you will learn about the many highlightsand opportunities that await you as part of our community. Activitiesare provided for students’ social, emotional, career, personal, spiritual,and cognitive development. Facilities are provided on campus forstudent programs and activities associated with the co-curricularatmosphere. They include a remodeled activity center, a renovatedfitness center, and a new laundry facility on the Ranger Main campusplus many other building upgrades, outstanding faculty and staff;ready to enhance your development at our other four centers.The Division of Student Affairs is charged with responsibilityfor student life outside the classroom and includes the followingdepartments: Student Conduct, Housing, Student Activities, StudentActivity Center, Student Retention, Student Organizations, FinancialAid, Student Support Services and Campus Security. It is the division’sphilosophy that students’ non-academic experiences are important toboth their formal education and personal development.In February, we celebrated Black History Month, andcongratulated our men’s basketball team as they won the NTJCACchampionship. Holt Memorial Scholarship. The 10,000scholarship was created to provide tuition assistance to all eligiblestudents, including those in Bosque County, entering the VocationalNursing program at Ranger College’s Erath County campus.Future students interested in applying for the Russell D. The 14th-ranked Rangers earned the No. 1 seed fromthe NTJCAC at the upcoming Region V Basketball Championships,which will be played on March 2-5 in Brownwood. Thanks to the Ranger College women’s softballteam, preseason drills also became a reality for members of theRanger Youth Softball Association. More than a dozen young playersjoined members of the Lady Rangers at Ron Butler Field for a miniskills camp last Thursday.During the clinic, members of the Ranger College women’s teamworked with the young players, instructing them on ways to improvetheir defensive skills with drills on proper footwork and fielding. Houston StreetComanche, Texas 76442The Ranger College Speech and Debate team added an impressivenote to its resume on Feb. 20 when they placed second among smallcolleges at the 2016 Tolson/True Debate Tournament hosted by TexasChristian University and Wiley College in Fort Worth. At the event,Ranger College finished second, narrowly being edged out by TarrantCounty Community College in the Community College sweepstakes.Ranger College was well represented at the event as Emily Willey, TylerBrooks and Mason Thayer finding their way to the podium.A sophomore from Forney, TX, Willey placed fifth on Saturday andthird on Sunday in Poetry Interpretation. She was tabbed as the topnovice in that event. A sophomore from Woodson, TX, Brooks placedfourth in Informative Speaking on Sunday and was awarded TopNovice for his efforts. Thayer, a sophomore from Eastland, TX, placedsixth in Persuasive speaking and was edged out of the Top Noviceaward by a competitor from West Texas A&M.The RC Speech and Debate team, which is coached by John Mikolajcikand Kevin "P-Kev" Daily, will return to action on March 11-13 whenthey compete in the Phi Rho Pi Regionals in Tyler, TX.Olney Center117 E.
