RonJari Rule #1:Commit yourself to tidying up
Committing yourself to tidying up1. Know2. Accept3. Plan4. Scale
Know your data
Know your organization
Accept that you cannot “buy” clean data(it’s only available for rent)
Clean data doesn’t care what you did last summer.
“I cleaned my office last month.”
Clean data isn’t always a data problem.Sometimes it’s a behavior problem.

RonJari Rule #4:Tidy by category, not location
Tidy by category – Consider duplicates
Tidy by category – consider duplicates
Tidy by category –Considercommunicationpreferences Tidy doesn’t just mean“delete/merge data” It also means pick a(single) way to handlecertain situations
Tidy by Category: Consider System Fields
Tidy by category: Consider Code Tables
Tidy by category: Review data dependent configurations
RonJari Rule #5:Follow the right order
Follow the right order Data cleanup can be a daunting task. Make sure your spending your limited time and effort on cleaning up thepieces that mean the most to your organization. We do have prescriptive suggestions in areas of the product depending on thecurrent state of your data, but ultimately you decide what the “right order” is. The important thing is to show results and benefit before investing more timeand energy.
Follow the right order: Data Policy Consider how data enters the system in your organization. Who are the organizational stakeholders? Who can help? Devise a plan of attack It's ok to start small; It's ok to start with a policy for "data entry going forward" Continuous incremental changes can have enormous effects over time Consider this "the plan to support your data entry folks"
Follow the right order: Enact your policy Proactive solutions Take a stance to standardize new data coming into the system Review helpful configurations to reach that goal Reactive solutions Review current policy / data to discover opportunities toimprove. Identify where data flows in, audit and review. Begin to clean up old data.
