PRAYER FOR LABOR DAYLord, on this Labor Daywe thank You for the blessing of work.We ask for strength to complete each day.We ask for rest when we are weary.Monday, September 6, 2021In the Catholic tradition, work is more than a way to make aliving; it is a form of continued participation in God’s creative action. We pray for the men and women whose jobshave been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. We ask Your guidance for everyone seeking employment, and we ask that You be with those whose faces we mightnever see but who work tirelessly each dayfor the good of us all. Amen.THE PARISH OFFICE WILL BECLOSEDMONDAY, September 6th.Enjoy the weekend!PATRIOT DAY - Saturday, September 11, 2021A People Changed by 9/11:"The years have gone by, but the memories remain forall who were involved in that one single day and itsaftermath that changed the lives of so many and of ournation." Monsignor Robert J. RomanoSTAY CONNECTEDWITH US!We remember all those who lost their lives in the2001 attacks. We pray for all victims of violenceand terrorism around the world, and for theirfamilies, that they may find comfort and peace. The last 7:30 AM Sunday Mass will be held onSeptember 5th. We will resume the 7:30 AMASK A FRANCISCANWhat book in the Bible should I read first so as notto get lost or give up?Sunday Mass during the Lenten Season. In the Old Testament, you may want to start with theBook of Exodus (God leading the Hebrew people out ofEgypt, making a covenant with them, and guiding theminto a new land). In the New Testament, you could start with the Gospel ofLuke, which has given us angels and shepherds at thebirth of Jesus, several of the most well-known parables,Jesus appearing to two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and the commission that the disciples preach to all nations repentance for the forgiveness of sins.I recommend that you read a translation that has goodintroductions to each book and cross-references to otherbiblical texts. The New American Bible and the New Revised Standard Version are very readable English translations and have the introductions and cross-referencesrecommended above. You can “own” the Bible in a legalsense, but its real ownership belongs to God and the faithcommunity that recognizes it as God’s unique selfrevelation. Please remember that you are not reading court transcripts but rather faith accounts: God’s revelation conveyed via human words. If you get bogged down at somepoint, you might explore the treasures in the Book ofPsalms; reflecting the human mood you are feeling then.Join us after the 9:00 AM & 10:30 AM Massesin the Parish Hall. FAITH FORMATION NOTESGospel ReadingMark 7:31-37Jesus restores a man’s hearing and speech.Family ConnectionToday’s Gospel invites us to consider how we witness the healing presence of Christ in our care for andministry to those who are sick. We notice that the deaf man is brought to Jesus for healing by hisfriends. These people beg Jesus to lay his hands on this deaf man so that he might be healed. Jesus’healing power is shown in his opening of the man’s ears and the restoring of his speech. When familymembers care for one another when they are sick, they bring Christ’s healing presence. When we prayfor those who are ill, we ask God to show his healing power. When health is restored, we share thatgood news with others. As you gather as a family, recall a time when a family member was ill. What steps were taken to helprestore this family member to health? Talk about what it feels like to care for a person who is ill, andabout how it feels to be the sick person being cared for. In today’s Gospel, we hear about a time whenJesus healed a man who was deaf. Read today’s Gospel, Mark 7:31-37. Notice how the man who wascured and his friends could not honor Jesus’ request to keep quiet about Jesus’ power to heal. Wecontinue to celebrate Jesus’ healing presence in our lives by giving thanks to God for the gift ofhealing and health. Conclude in prayer, thanking Jesus for the gifts of health and healing. Pray together for those who are sick. After each person is named, pray, “Jesus, heal us.”(Loyola Press)Faith Formation Fall 2021-22REGISTRATION IS OPENGrades 1-10Forms can be found in the Atrium & on our website.CATECHISTS NEEDEDfor Sundays Grade 6Are you looking for a rewarding way to serve the church& strengthen your faith? Then being a Catechist is for you!Contact LindaMarie Klekner or Allison herdrc.orgFAITH FORMATION BEGINSSeptember 12 & 14 - Grades 1-8September 19 - Grades 9 & 10Don’t Forget Your Masks!Masks must be worn by allCatechists & Students while inFaith Formation classroomsCATECHETICAL SUNDAY MASSSeptember 19, 202110:30am Mass
