PASTOR’S MESSAGEDear brothers and sisters in Christ,I can’t believe how the time seems to fly by “Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis!” as this ancient Latinsaying puts it: “Times change, we too change with them!” We arecelebrating the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time already. Only 3 moreSundays to go before we begin the Season of Advent again And onMonday, November 1st, we celebrate All Saints’ Day, on Tuesday,November 2nd, All Souls’ Day. The month of November invites us tolook to the Saints to remind us of what has been promised to us.And as we honor all the saints, we ask them to pray for us, as wepray for the souls of all the faithful departed, of our deceased lovedones! The Sunday readings leading up to the end of our liturgicalyear on Christ the King Sunday, November 21, and at the beginningof the new liturgical year on the 1st Sunday of Advent on November28, will be talking about the “end times”. They want to remind ushow precious our life is and how fragile – I think it is safe to say thatthe COVID pandemic reminded us of that, too. As followers ofChrist, we are being encouraged that we should make sure that weas long as this our life lasts, we should live it as best as we can The readings of this 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time put uson that same track: The love of God and neighbor should be ourfirst and foremost concern!God and neighbor The love we claim we have for Godbecomes real, is proven (or disproven) in the love, care and concernwe show for our neighbor. That is easy, and difficult at the sametime. “Neighbor” is not (in the first place) the poor, starving child, thousands of miles away. It is perhaps the person right next to me,my neighbor next door, who I realize is in need – and I may not likehim particularly; it may be a certain difficult person; I may thinkthat it’s that poor man’s/woman’s own fault that they are in a predicament Our Lord invites us not to look away. Imagine, if God actedlike we do at times, there would be no hope for us! Have we trulyalways been such a “good person”? Well, let God be the judge ofthat! Thank God, God is a merciful judge – in contrast to us, attimes Again, if God were to judge like we do at times, there wouldbe no hope Now, we ought to pray, to cry out, like Bartimaeus did:Jesus, Son of David, have pity! – I believe, help my unbelief! Havemercy on me, a sinner! We need to have faith in Jesus, like Bartimaeus, and then follow Jesus on his way Let me repeat from last week’s bulletin: Being togetherwith Jesus, and actually all the others together on this way, on thisspiritual journey through life: synhodos we are together on theway, that is. The “Synod on Synodality” in the Church, that PopeFrancis has called for and invited all of us to participate in, remindsus that we all, indeed all of humanity, are on that same spiritualjourney. Whether others believe it or not that Jesus is the Savior ofthe entire world, of all of humanity; that he IS the way, the Truth, and the Life in person; that he IS the Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the end; and that no one comes to the Father exceptthrough him! Is that your faith? Then call out to him, trust in him, and follow him; and bydoing so, “preaching, living the Gospel at all times, using words ifnecessary.” Like the risen Lord on the way to Emmaus listened towhat the two disciples had to say, we ought to listen to what stirsand moves people around us, and by living our very own faith, humbly leading them to the Lord Jesus, their savior, and our savior.May God richly bless you, your families and loved ones, upon the intercession of the Queen of Heaven, and of Saint Joseph, and may He give you His PEACE!Fr. SimeonWe will immediately inform you on any updates on the archdiocesan synodal process. On the Synod on Synodality, you can htmlWe have begun with the replacement of the parish office roof. Pray, thatall goes well Total of “Roof Replacement & Repair Fund”: 54,461.16 Thanks be to God, and thanks to your generosity, you have reached thatfirst threshold! We will keep you posted about the further course of actionin our efforts to replace the leaking roofs of two more school buildings, the parish hall, rectory, and to repair the concrete driveway north of therectory. We have had some extraordinary expenses this past month, that werenecessary for repair/safety issues: Parish Hall conference room: replacing the trip-hazard old floor andrepainting the room. 50% for the new boiler for the rectory has been paid off so far. Weare waiting for the completion of the installation and the inspection. Some projects coming up: 1) repairing and painting some exposedwooden surfaces around the school; 2) “cleaning up” some electrical wiring in and above the parish hall, and preparing them for 3) the installationof heating and cooling units for the hall restrooms – those restrooms werewithout heating/cooling; that’s the reason why the doors are alwayspropped open 4) new server for the security cameras around the schooland office MARK YOUR CALENDARS:Fridays (except Holy Days) 12:00PM-1:00PMEucharisticAdoration & BenedictionSun Oct 31 6:00 PMAll Saints’ Day Vigil MassMon Nov 1 7:30 AMAll Saints’ Day Mass5:30 PMAll Saints’ Day MassTue Nov 27:30 AMAll Souls’ Day Mass5:30 PMAll Soul’s Day MassFriNov 5 7:30 AMFirst Friday Mass8:15 AM-1:00 PMFirst Friday AdorationWed Nov 17 7:30 PM-8:30 PM Eucharistic Adoration/ BenedictionThu Nov 25 9:30AMThanksgiving Day MassSun Nov 28First Sunday of AdventFriDec 37:30 AMMass/St. Francis Xavier8:15 AM-1:00 PMFirst Friday AdorationTue Dec 77:30 AMMass/St. Ambrose5:30 PMVigil Mass ImmaculateWed Dec 87:30 AMMassConception12:00 PMMassImmaculate5:30 PMMassConceptionThu Dec 97:30 AMMass/San Juan DiegoPILGRIMAGE in 2022:“With Mother Mary To The Passion Play”July 25-August 5, 2022w/Holy Land Travel Centerwww.holylandtc.comLourdes in France & Marian Shrines & other sights in Germany:Cologne Cathedral – Shrine in Kevelaer – Rüdesheim – St. Hildegardof Bingen/Eibingen Abbey – Heidelberg – Rothenburg Andechs Shrine & Shrine in Altötting – Ettal Abbey – Wieskirche and the Passionplay in OberammergauAfter the hardships caused by the corona pandemic, a pilgrimage to shrines dedicated to the Blessed Mother, like Lourdes in France, Kevelaer and Altötting inGermany, ending with attending the famous PASSIONPLAY in Oberammergau, might not be a bad thing If you are interested, please call the parish office for a brochure,or contact Father Simeon.October 31, 2021Queen of Heaven 5
