It stands apart, unique, unapproachable, incomprehensible and unattainable. The natural man is blind to it. He may fear God’spower and admire His wisdom, but His holiness he cannot even imagine.”A. W. Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy Root Word: to divide, to mark off, to set apart from all else; it’s the opposite ofprofane – or to be common or ordinary – to be holy is to be different, distinct, orunique from the common or ordinary. The Holiness of God is that which divides Him from everyone and everything else.It is the quality of God being different, distinct, unique – one of a kind.Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?Who is like you -- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?Exodus 15:11 God’s Holiness refers to both His majesty and moral purity. Holiness is the absoluteabsence of evil (1 John 1:5) and encompasses and defines all that is pure, whole, righteous, and healthy in the universe. For more resources, go to LivingontheEdge.orgCopyright 2017 Chip Ingram and Living on the Edge1

The Real GodHow He Longs for You to See HimThe Holiness of God(Part 4)God’s holiness raises two important questions:1. If God is so holy that He cannot even gaze at sin, how can sinful people like us havea relationship with Him?For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for theungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man/ though perhapsfor the good man someone would dare even to die. But Goddemonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yetsinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justifiedby His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through thedeath of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall besaved by His life.Romans 5:6-102. If trusting in Christ’s work on the cross blots out our sin before God and we are holyin His sight, why do we keep on sinning?
