We’ve designed privacyprinciples that govern how we use your personalinformation. The College Board lets students choosewhat personal information they provide to us and howwe share it. See collegeboard.org/privacy-policy forcomplete data privacy information.The College Board collects personal information only toadminister tests and deliver educational opportunities tostudents. The College Board lets students and familiesdecide how much additional information they disclosebeyond the minimum information needed to connectstudents with college success, including taking the SAT.On the answer sheet, we ask students for: name,address, date of birth, sex, Social Security number orstudent ID, and address. We may also ask for phonenumbers and email addresses, school name, grade levelor expected graduation date, and ethnicity. Sometimes,schools, districts, or states will give us students’personal information to register the students for CollegeBoard tests. Schools may share students’ names,addresses, dates of birth, and gender, and in certaincircumstances information about students to help theCollege Board determine if they qualify for fee waivers.Students provide any remaining personal informationthemselves.We only share student information for educationalpurposes (or under court order). These purposes include: We report scores to students and their schools,districts, and states to help measure educationalprogress and support a student’s path to college.Using This Guide If students request it, we use information to sendcustomized college planning information. We use student information to provide SAT collegeapplication fee waivers for income-eligible students. See page 7 for more Privacy Policies.Telemarketing ScamsWe sometimes get reports of phone scams when callersposing as employees of the College Board try to selltest preparation products or request sensitive, personallyidentifying information, such as credit card and SocialSecurity numbers. The College Board does not makeunsolicited phone calls or send emails to students orfamilies requesting this type of information. What You Need to Know About Taking the SATTest Security and Fairness PoliciesWhat You Need to Know About Taking the SATThe College Board’s Test Security and Fairness policiesare designed to give every student a fair and equitableopportunity to demonstrate college readiness. They’realso designed to prevent anyone from gaining an unfairadvantage on SAT tests. Please read this section carefully.Test Security andFairness PoliciesWhen you take the SAT, you acknowledge that you haveread, understand, and will comply with our test daypolicies and requirements, as detailed here. You must present acceptable photo ID for admissionif testing at a different school from the one you attend. Allowing someone to impersonate you to take aCollege Board test, or engaging in impersonation totake a test for someone else, is strictly prohibited. Sharing test questions or answers is prohibited atany time unless test content is released as part of aCollege Board service (such as the Question-andAnswer Service). Using phones and certain other electronic devices isprohibited in SAT test sites. You are prohibited from accessing secured testmaterials at any time before or after the test. If you exit the building before testing ends, yourscores will be canceled. While you’re taking the test, do not allow anyone tosee the test questions or your answers. The timing of each test section is strictly scheduled.You cannot skip ahead or go back to a previous testor test section in the test book or answer sheet whiletaking the SAT. If your essay does not reflect your originaland individual work, your entire test score maybe canceled. You may not consult textbooks, other people,electronic devices, or any other resources during thetest or during breaks. Calculators may not be shared and may only beon your desk during the parts of the SAT they’reapproved for.Violation of policies related to test security can resultin denial of entry to or immediate dismissal from thetest site, cancellation of your scores, or a limited orpermanent ban from future test taking.SAT Terms and ConditionsBy taking the SAT, you are certifying that youare the person whose personal informationis being provided for the test and that theinformation provided about you is accurate. If your school participates in an SAT School Dayadministration and/or a bulk registration process forthe test, the College Board may receive your personalinformation, including first name, last name, sex, dateof birth, and mailing address from your school. Thisinformation will be kept secure and added to yourpermanent College Board record to be used for scorereporting purposes as well as the other purposesthat are outlined in this guide. By taking the SAT testand signing the SAT answer sheet, you acknowledgethat your school has provided this information tothe College Board and consent to the College Boardretaining this information. Creating multiple College Board student accounts,intentionally or inadvertently, is strictly prohibitedand can result in an investigation and/or themerging of relevant records. If you want to cancel your scores, you should doso immediately after the test. Your request must bereceived by the fourth business day after your testadministration. Canceled student scores will still besent to the state and district and will be accessible toyour school, but will not be sent by the College Boardto your chosen colleges or scholarship organizations.Once canceled, scores may not be reinstated. Only score reports from completed and scored testsare sent to your colleges and scholarship programs.Scores from future tests you’ve registered for, buthaven’t yet completed, are not included. You cansend all your scores to an institution, or you canselect which scores to send an institution (by testdate). Score Choice is optional; if you decide not touse it when sending scores, the College Board willsend all of your scores to the recipient institutions. Each time you test, you can choose the colleges orscholarship programs you want to send your scoresto. The first four are included with your answersheet. If you are undecided about where to send yourscores, you can add or change your score recipientsonline. The four score-sending requests that areincluded with your test cannot be applied to past orfuture score-sending requests or registrations. Most, but not all, scores will be reported online andavailable by phone several weeks after the test date.Access to your score report will be delivered to the62017-18 SAT School Day Student Guide

SAT Terms and Conditionshigh school, colleges, universities, and scholarshipprograms you indicated on your answer sheet, andadditional score report requests will be delivered afew weeks after the request is received. SAT Program policies are subject to change at anytime for test security or other reasons. The SATProgram will attempt to provide adequate prior notice,although circumstances may limit our ability to do so. The College Board will not be responsible forpersonal property brought to the test site on test daythat becomes lost, stolen, or damaged. In certain rare cases when there is unexpectedvolume in a particular area or for test securityreasons, the College Board reserves the rightto move test takers to a different location or to asubsequent test administration. In the event of a test security–related concern,public health threat, natural disaster, or terroristact, the College Board may cancel testing for all or aparticular group of test takers. When this occurs, theCollege Board will attempt to provide adequate priornotice, although circumstances may limit our abilityto do so. Once determined, we will communicatetest cancellations and, where feasible, alternativetest dates for affected test takers. In order to ensureintegrity of its assessments, the College Boardreserves the right to not release official scores for,or to bar any individual or group of individuals fromregistering for and/or taking the SAT. If the College Board becomes aware that you orsomeone else may be in imminent danger, includinga determination based on the content of your SATessay, we reserve the right to contact the appropriateindividuals or agencies, including your high schoolor law enforcement agencies. We might also providethe relevant essay or other content, along with anypersonal information, to those contacted. Except as otherwise indicated in this booklet,the College Board, including its subcontractors,shall not be liable to test takers, schools, schooldistricts, or anyone claiming by or through themfor any damages, including direct, indirect, special,incidental, consequential, exemplary, or punitivedamages, which are caused by, arising from, orotherwise related to the failure of test administrationpersonnel, the students or the school, to complywith the College Board’s and its subcontractors’test security and test administration policies andprocedures, whether or not the College Board hasbeen advised of the possibility of such damages. The College Board’s processes are designed toensure that answer sheets are properly handled andscored. In the unlikely event that an issue arises inWhat You Need to Know About Taking the SATconnection with shipping or otherwise processinganswer sheets or score reports, or with regard toscoring the test, or score reporting, the College Boardwill correct the error, if possible, schedule a makeuptest for affected students or provide a refund of thetest fee. These are the sole remedies for studentsin relation to such issues. The College Board hassole discretion in determining whether to score lostanswer sheets that are eventually recovered.Additional Privacy PoliciesThe College Board employs an array of measures, incompliance with applicable laws and the policies andguidelines set forth herein, to manage and safeguardpersonal information that you provide to the CollegeBoard. Please see the College Board’s online privacypolicy at collegeboard.org/privacy-policy.Some of the information is available to your highschool, the ETS Office of Testing Integrity, and theCollege Board. In the event of an investigation involvingthe validity of your test scores, your information maybe made available to institutions you have sent yourscores to. When legally compelled to do so, for examplepursuant to a subpoena, the College Board may provideyour personal information to outside parties. Yourscores will be made available to your high school. Inaddition, individual scores and other information youprovide during testing may be reported to your districtor state and/or their agents and representatives foreducational, diagnostic and/or reporting purposes.For more information about the guidelines on the usesof College Board test scores and related data, askyour counselor or download Guidelines on the Usesof College Board Test Scores and Related Data fromcollegeboard.org/research. Your name will neverbe sold to a commercial marketing firm or retailerof merchandise or services (such as test prep).The College Board will disclose scores to a student’sparent or guardian if the parent or guardian is able tosupply to the College Board the required authenticationinformation, unless the College Board determines in itssole discretion that its records on the student contain acourt order, state statute, or legally binding documentrelating to matters such as divorce, separation, orcustody that restricts the parent’s or guardian’s accessto the student’s scores. The College Board will notindependently investigate whether a court order, statestatute, or legally binding document exists other than inits records, rather relevant documents and informationmust be submitted to the College Board. What You Need to Know About Taking the SATSAT Terms and ConditionsGrounds for Score CancellationAs the College Board test administrator, ETS has in placeprocedures designed to ensure that the SAT is fairlyadministered on test day. The College Board and ETS striveto report scores that accurately reflect the performanceof every test taker. Accordingly, ETS standards andprocedures for administering tests have two primary goals:give all test takers equivalent opportunities to demonstratetheir abilities, and prevent any test taker from gaining anunfair advantage over others.ETS reserves the right to dismiss test takers, decline toscore any test, and/or cancel any test scores when, inits sole judgment, as applicable, a testing irregularityoccurs; there is an apparent discrepancy in the test taker’sidentification; a test taker is improperly admitted to thetest site, a test taker engages in misconduct; based ona test taker’s testing history, the validity of the score issuspect; or t
