TheXT execution enables us to meet individualneeds of the most challenging applicationsof the industry.4Scania construction trucks

for the roughand toughOur construction vehicles derive from our solid history of timelessengineering and extensive field testing in the roughest conditions.A perfectly suited background for an industry that seldom offers theluxury of a well-paved road. Take a look at the smart solutions thatwill help making your construction operations safer, as well as moreefficient, comfortable, and profitable.Robust XT steel bumperThe one-piece sturdy steel bumper provides greatprotection for the front components of your vehicle, reducing unwanted downtime and costly repairs tocab and chassis. In addition, its large approach angleimproves your mobility and flexibility at the constructionsite. The fold-out service step in the bumper, togetherwith grab handles in the front, ensures safe, nonslipaccess to the windscreen, saving time on dailymaintenance.Extra inspection stepThe inspection step available on our day cabs provideseasy access for checking the cargo or body withoutstepping down from the cab. Integrated in the cab sidebehind the door, combined with a handle on the roof andan optional extra handle inside the cab, it provides thebest possible ergonomics and safety.Sturdy towbarThe XT range features the strongest towing capacity onthe market – 40 tonnes. The easily accessible, heavyduty tow pin in the front enables the vehicle to be quicklypulled out of trouble, even without unloading the cargo.Heavy-duty powertrainWith an extremely efficient cooling system, advancedcombustion technology, and fuel injection, Scaniaengines provide exceptional performance with outstanding fuel efficiency, high torque, and low emissions.Together with our extensive range of gearboxes you willbe perfectly suited to take on any task, of any operation. The whole range of Scania heavy-duty gearboxes canbe equipped with the Scania Retarder. Use it togetherwith an exhaust brake, and experience greatly improvedbrake performance.Safety Cab – Swedish crash test standards are among themost stringent in the world, using the same cab forall tests. Our new generation has surpassed themwith ease. The new high-tensile steel cab structureoffers an outstanding crash performance. Visibility – By moving the driver’s position forwardand sideways, lowering the instrument panel andredesigning the A-pillars, we have improved thedirect visibility in the new cab, making your driverfeel in control. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) reduces therisk of skidding and tipping over, as well as theeffects of understeering and oversteering Air bags – Being the first in the industry, the sidecurtain airbag will protect the driver in case of aroll-over accident. Together with the steering wheelairbag, the overall driver safety is on point. Handling and manoeuvrability. Scania vehicles have anundisputable reputation for world-class handling andmanoeuvrability. With our new range, this has beenimproved even further. The new steering design androbust heavy-duty cab suspension provide a smootherand more responsive handling and steering than ever.Technical specifications and options5

Scania OpticruiseScania Opticruise, one of the first automated gearchanging systems on the market, has been refinedin many steps over the years, and is now one of thesmoothest and smartest systems on the market. For operations requiring the driver to be in chargefor specific manoeuvring, we introduce Clutch onDemand: a new performance step for Scania Opticruise.Clutch on Demand has an additional clutch pedal forconvenient use in special conditions, otherwise thesystem works as an ordinary automatic clutch system.Smooth and fast gearingThe new lay-shaft brake provides faster and smoothergear changes to maintain both engine torque and roadspeed.Scania Opticruise general features Driver interface with all functions for gear changingand retarder control integrated in the right-handsteering wheel lever. Comprehensive electronic protection keeps clutchwear to a minimum. Several parameters can be adjusted by a Scaniaworkshop to tailor the functionality to fit yourspecific needs.6Scania construction trucksPerformance modesThe performance modes are part of Scania Opticruise. They allow you to adapt the vehicle’s performance tomatch certain operational demands. Switching mode iseasily done while driving and the chosen mode is visibleon the central display. If required, all settings can bealtered or fine-tuned by a Scania service workshop. There are totally four performance modes: Standard mode. Provides optimal balance betweenfuel economy and hill performance. Economy mode. Tuned to minimise fuel consumptionand thus contribute to lower fuel costs. Power mode. Prioritises engine response and uphillperformance in order to optimise transport time. Off-road mode. Enables better traction control whendriving in rough terrain and on surfaces with highrolling resistance.Scania RetarderThe Scania Retarder interacts with the cruise control, exhaust brake and wheel brakes to provide totaldownhill speed control. In addition, the retarder isavailable in 2 performance steps for different drivingconditions. The more powerful R4100 is also availablein a version with a clutch that disengages the retarderfrom the gearbox when it is not in use. This minimisesthe retarder’s drag losses and saves fuel.

AxlesTo meet any demands, Scania has a wide range ofsteered and fixed axles, of which driven axles areavailable with and without hub reduction in a widerange of axle gear ratios.Front axlesFor on-road applications the front axle can carrya load of up to 10 tonnes for a single axle, and for in-siteoperations as much as 12 tonnes. With double frontaxles, the load capacity is up to 2x10 tonnes for on-roadoperation and 2x12 tonnes for in-site operation. The transfer gearbox used for driven front axles has2 gears and is available in 2 executions; with or withoutdisconnectable front axle drive. Drive on the first axlegives excellent mobility and traction in soft surfaceconditions (e.g. mud, sand, and snow).Rear axlesScania has a wide range of rear drive axles with andwithout hub reduction. Bogie axles with hub reductioncan carry up to 32 tonnes for on-road applications andup to 42 tonnes in site operation.Tag axlesNon-steered tag axles have a capacity of 10 tonneswhereas steered tag axles can carry up to 9 tonnes. The electro-hydraulic rear-steered axle helps toincrease load capacity and reduce fuel consumption.AWDStandard configurations for all-wheel drive are 4x4 or6x6, but other complex driven axle combinations arealso available.Scania Driver SupportScania Driver Support is a system that continuouslygives the driver individual hints and feedback on thedriving with safety and fuel economy as key parameters. It works in real time during driving and delivers asummary after a completed assignment. The system isdesigned to work in line with the Scania Driver Trainingprogramme in order to reduce wear and maintain aconsistently fuel-efficient driving style.Scania Driver Training and coachingGives the driver the opportunity to maintain topperformance. A skilled driver contributes to increasedroad safety and better fuel economy while loweringthe environmental footprint. Our unique one-to-oneapplication-based driver coaching paves the way toexcellent driving habits with reduced wear and tear, stress, and fuel consumption, while increasing comfortand road safety.Technical specifications and options7
