Engineering ProgramsUniversity of Wisconsin at Madison, Wisconsin Engineering Summer ProgramGrades: 11, 12Dates: June 20- July 31, 2015Location: University of Wisconsin at Madison CampusCost: NO Cost ( 40 non-refundable application fee but can be waived)Brief Description: ESP is designed to focus on academic enrichment related to math, science, and engineering; providean orientation to the UW-Madison environment and collegiate experience; and demonstrate the importance of earlypreparation for the college- bound student. SUMMET is an excellent stepping stone to the lifestyle and rigors of college. Pre-College ProgramsPomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS)Grades: 9-12 (students must apply during 9 th grade)Dates: June 21- July 17, 2015Location: Pomona College campus, Claremont, CACost: NO CostBrief Description: An intensive 4-week summer academic program that serves rising sophomores through rising seniorsfrom groups traditionally under-represented in higher education-students from the Los Angeles area and the Inland Valleywho are first in their family to attend college, those from low income families and those who are African American orLatina/o. SCA Scholars participate in a rigorous summer residential experiencefollowed by monthly events throughout high school. SCA focuses its recruitment on students who will be the first in theirfamily to attend college e and who may lack the resources in their home, school, or community to fully prepare to enroll in atop college or university. During the two- week Summer Residential program students live among their peers and further theiracademic preparation by exploring issues of race, class, and gender through the four major areas of study (fine arts, humanities,natural sciences, and social sciences). Following the Summer Residential Program, SCA Scholars take part in additional eventsand activities throughout high school including book clubs, science research opportunities, SAT/ACT preparation classes, andfield trips.
