Box 1452, Maple Grove, MN g763-559-4444July, August 2018End-Time Weariness and Rapture FatigueBy Jan MarkellThe malady goes by many names:End-time weariness; Rapture fatigue;Israel burn-out. The results are thesame: The scoffers and skeptics aregaining too much territory and toomany followers. The fact that theKing is coming is boring and justold news. What Hal Lindsey wrote in1969 in his classic The Late-GreatPlanet Earth, in the eyes of many, did not come to pass. Thus, there isa collective so-what sigh.It is the tragedy of my lifetime—andI never thought I would see the day.Social justice hasgained ground overgood old-fashionedevangelical supportfor Israel and herGod-given land. Theunder age 40 crowdare listening to voicesthat are not telling the truth. Theyare hearing that Israel is illustrativeof a new form of apartheid; that thePalestinians had their land stolen;and don’t you know that the Churchis the new Israel? Most reject whattheir parents grew up on: Israel isthe apple of God’s eye and the keyto the end of the age.I read a revealing article in TheGuardianrecommendedbyBill Koenig. It talks about thedestruction of the new Christianprogressiveness. I call it deceptionand delusion, not to mention justanother sign of the times. Thisarticle suggests: Evangelicals have sided withthe wrong party. Don’t you knowthat hundreds of Palestiniansare being murdered by Israelisat the Gaza border? The Late-Great Planet Earthand the Left Behindseries prophesied alot of things that havenot yet come to pass.We have waited longenough so let’s moveon from their message. Those who hung on the wordsof the popular 1970s LarryNorman song, I Wish We’d AllBeen Ready, have also waitedlong enough! Sure, life wasfilled with guns and war andeveryone got trampled on thefloor but so what? Almost 45years have passed and thecontinued on page 2“I Trust in You, O Lord . . . OLIVETREEMINISTRIESEnd-Time Weariness and Rapture FatigueBy Jan MarkellContinued from page 1world is still groaning. Nothinghas changed. “We’ve been through all ofthis before” is the sentimentthat has replaced apocalypticfervor. There is nothing newunder the sun. To be blunt, your words of warning are nowfalling on deaf ears.Add to this mix that some datesetters have been wrong. EdgarWeisenhunt and Harold Campingnot only set dates, but re-set dateswhen nothing happened the firsttime! Hal Lindsey never said 1988was the date of the Rapture but thatwas the accusation. He suggested40 years after 1948 was an intriguingdate. That’s all. Then came the bashers who arerespected in some circles. HankHanegraaff said there was noRapture to be found in the Bible.Who knew? Well, he’s no BibleAnswer Man to me.Lynne Hybels and World Visionteamed up to condemn Israel asalmost barbaric persecutors ofthe Palestinians in their one-sided“Hope for the Holy Land” toursacross America. What’s in the water Frankie Schaefferis drinking? When he, like Hanegraaf, joined the Eastern Orthodox Church,he went sideways. He now goes intotirades on MSNBC against what hisparents might have believed aboutthe end-times. He slams his “goodfriend” Jerry Jenkins for comingup with the Left Behind books thatbelong in the Twilight Zone categoryaccording to Schaeffer. What’s inthem can only be believed by whiteevangelicals who support DonaldTrump says Schaeffer.InternetbroadcasterRickWiles consistently says thatDispensationalists and ChristianZionists are the root of the world’sproblems and also the church’sproblems. We are destroying theworld. If your teen or twenty-something kidgoes off to a Justice Conference, they will likely hear Marxist CornellWest rather than any pro-Israelspeaker. The Catalyst Conferencesaren’t much better when it comesto promoting end-time theology. Apersecuted Palestinian might be anhonored guest so that the socialjustice cravings of the Millennialscan be satisfied.Doing additional damage arerespected church leaders such asDr. John Piper and Pastor RickWarren. They have little time forthe one-third of the Bible that talksabout our Lord’s return. OLIVETREEMINISTRIESDrowning in DeceptionBy Jan MarkellAs Jesus Christ overlooked Jerusalemin Matthew 24, He spoke of thedeceivers to come! Yes, Matthew24 is heavily a Tribulation passage, but events of that age are casting ahuge shadow now. As editor TerryJames writes in the introduction ofhis new book, Deceivers:Exposing Evil Seducersand Their Last DaysDeception “Deception is the orderof the day with the21st-century world. Thedeceivers are among us.They, in fact, rule thisfallen planet while thewind-up of human historyruns its inevitable course.Never have there beenprophetic topics moreworthy of dissection and analysisthan those encapsulated within thisbook’s title.”So just who is deceiving? How canyou protect those you care about? There is spiritual deception andsocietal deception. Deception makesthe world go round, sadly. And if youaren’t paying attention, even you willbe deceived. Ihave roots in a solid, Bible-preaching,prophecy-loving church. I had noidea what I would encounter when Ientered ministry years ago—beforethe great end-time falling away evengot into high gear! Dr. David Reagan: Signs OutshineSatan’s SeductionTruly, every wind of doctrine is beingpeddled to unsuspecting churchThe chapter contributors in this 334page hardbound book include:6 Dr. Gary Frazier: Laodicean Lies“My People Perish for a Lack of Knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

OLIVETREEMINISTRIESWhy We May be the Terminal GenerationBy Jan MarkellContinued from page 6attendees today. I was able to addressjust some of these issues: The Mainline Mistake Evangelicals Start to Wobble New Ways of Doing Church Hipster ChurchPostmodern)(Emergent/ The Laughing RevivalWasn’t So FunnyThat When You Criticize “America’sPastor” Are Today’sAbout Profit?Prophets So ProtestantsCatholics?AreOnlyNow When the Left Isn’t Right The Greatest Tragedy (droppingBible prophecy and support ofIsrael)The book looks at societal issuesas well. As Terry James suggests, following World War II, Americareached its zenith. It was a churchgoing, praying, family-togethernessnation that held to some biblicalprinciples. All of that changed in the1960s although the roots of changebegan in the late 19th century. But by the 1960s godlessness beganto replace godliness. Academiastressed no moral absolutes, valuesclarification, situational ethics, evolution, and more. The shackleswere thrown off, aided and abetted bythe news and entertainment media. The deceivers infected everythingand the mantra became, “If it feelsgood, do it.” “New Age” and newthought replaced the God-focusedpost World War II mindset. It was andis a new day and not a good day.Yes, we are drowning in deceptionbut you don’t have to! As Terry Jamessays, “The authors have done amasterful job of bringing to light thedelusion taking place in the nationand world.”Tap into this helpful product today. You can also call us M - F CST at763-559-4444, order in our onlinestore, or order from the Resourcespages in this newsletter.Follow Us On YouTube! We have over 1,000 YouTube videos including some ofour radio programs, conference messages, and Jan’sDVD teachings. OLIVETREEMINISTRIESVictory in a Time of DarknessBy Jill Martin RischeIn a time of darkness—in the last daysof this twisted, broken world—themercy of God is new every morning. The U.S. Supreme Court hasweighed in on the religious freedomimplications of gay rights, and foronce, the outcome is on the side offreedom. In a landmark 7-2 decision, the Supremes ruled that a Christianbaker should not be forced to bakea wedding cake for a gay couple. The second shocker was that it wasnot even a close decision—liberaljustices Kagan, Breyer, and Kennedyvoted with the conservative side ofthe bench in a truly miraculous result.Jack Phillips and his MasterpieceCake Shop lost every single courthearing on their way up the judicialladder until they arrived at theSupreme Court hearing, and thenthey won big. This was anotherDaniel moment—another lion’s denthat looked hopeless until God provedHe is once again, greater. This “narrow” focus on Colorado’sprejudice against Masterpiece Cakesis a blow to the left that will havebroad, far-reaching consequences.Did the court go far enough indefending religious freedom? No.They punted using vague referencesto “further definition”—likely becausethe case of Christian Florist, BarronelleStutzman, will soon be argued beforethem. But the very good news fornow is that Christians engaged ina business-related, creative activityhave the right under the Constitutionto refuse to violate their beliefs. Theycannot be coerced into creating. The Art of the DealThis religious protection victory iswell worth celebrating, but there isalso a second win that makes thisprotection much harder to reverse—afact the media barely mentions andhas yet to grasp. God stepped inand expanded the court’s decision toThe court zoomed-in on the ColoradoCivil Rights Commission’s prejudiceagainst Phillips, calling it religiousbigotry without using the “b” word, and handing a tremendous victory toChristians.Faith Must Be RespectedJustice Kennedy wrote in his summarythat “the record here demonstratesthat the Commission’s considerationof Phillips’ case was neither tolerantnor respectful of his religious beliefs.”8include creativity. Christian bakers, photographers, artists, designers—even pastors who consider a weddingto be a creative event—all now have“My People Perish for a Lack of Knowledge.” Hosea 4:6continued on page 9

OLIVETREEMINISTRIESVictory in a Time of DarknessBy Jill Martin Rischea chance to defend their freedom ofexpression based on this ruling.Justice Kennedy wrote, “To Phillips, his claim that using his artistic skillsto make an expressive statement,a wedding endorsement in his ownvoice and of his own creation, has asignificant First Amendment speechcomponent and implicates his deepand sincere religious beliefs.”Deeply held religious beliefs andcreative freedom go hand in hand, according to the Supreme Court, andthey are constitutionally protected. For the first time in a gay rightsrelated case, religious freedom andcreative freedom were combined toprotect free expression. They willnot be easily separated. God is inthe details—a saying often misquotedand profoundly true.Liberal Heads Will ExplodeThe liberal left is currently in shock, downplaying the decision as “narrow”and grappling with what will be viewedas a betrayal by Justice Kennedy—the same justice who forced gaymarriage on America. But the shockwill wear off and heads will eventuallyexplode. Get ready for a massivelevel of fury. Spiritual warfare can bea great deal like military battles—loudand very messy.Fortunately, we know who the enemyis, “For we wrestle not against fleshand blood, but against principalities,Continued from page 8against powers, against the rulers ofthe darkness of this world, againstspiritual wickedness in high places.”(Eph 6:12) And we know how to defeathim. “Put on the whole armor of God,that you may be able to stand againstthe schemes of the devil.” (Eph 6:11)For His GloryEven in Paul’s darkest days, Godbrought times of rejoicing. A poisonsnakebite brought incredible healingand the salvation of many people. Godused a dark time for His glory. Today,we face the poison of the world ona daily basis but God demonstratesHis power over the loudest voicesand messiest situations. We areoccupying a war-torn landscape butHe reminds us He is there, too. Hishand delivers and His love protectsus. He will bring good out of theworst circumstances. All hail the power of Jesus’ Name!Let angels prostrate fall;Bring forth the royal diadem,And crown Him Lord of all!Bring forth the royal diadem,And crown Him Lord of all!-- Edward Perronet(Jill Martin Rische is the daughter ofDr. Walter Martin and is a part of OliveTree Ministries. OLIVETREEMINISTRIESMy Forty Years with a Holocaust SurvivorBy Jan MarkellI was an aspiring young Christian writerin 1978. I had one successful bookunder my belt, published by TyndaleHouse. I was eager to keep writingwhat I felt was my specialty: Truestories of other Christians. My phone rang and it was Pastor AlanTalley from Hope Presbyterian Churchin a Minneapolis suburb. This wasone Presbyterian Church that was proIsrael and that loved the Jews. “I’ve metsomeone, Jan, and she needs a bookwritten about her life during World WarII. She survived the Holocaust. I notedher accent and asked about her story. It is incredible. Her name is AnitaDittman.”When I connected withAnita I had her recounther harrowing story. She captivated me. TheHolocaust has alwaysbeen a passion of mine.My paternal grandparentsfled Lithuania in the early1900s and came straightto Ellis Island, then tonorthern Minnesota.marginalization, starvation, separation, loneliness, isolation, fear, and faith. How could this woman, then in herfifties, even stand up straight? Shehad lifted one-hundred pound itemsas a teenager as the Nazis perpetratedforced labor on her and her mother. They had been abandoned by herAryan father. She had made two escapes fromconcentration camps. She never hadsufficient food for twelve years. Atone point she sent all of her meagerrations to her mother who entered acamp before Anita was taken. Once ina camp, Anita chopped down trees ina forest in the bitter winter with barelyenough clothing on.At the end of the warshe walked across partof Europe on a woundedleg to see if her motherhad survived CampTheresianstadt. Was Ijust looking at a livingmiracle? Perhaps so.In everything she gavethanks! She had becomeAs a result, the Holocausta strong Christian in thewas not going to be a Anita Dittman and Jan Markell midst of it all.part of my heritage. Butin 2014.As I laid out the book,it could have been. MyI told Anita that we had to focus ongrandparents just didn’t make the leftthe miracles—the literal acts of Godturn into Europe way back then. Theyas He alone allowed her to survive awanted to get as far away from thetwelve-year nightmare of unbelievable“Fiddler on the Roof” narrative as theyproportion. She agreed. OLIVETREEMINISTRIESMy Forty Years with a Holocaust SurvivorBy Jan MarkellContinued from page 10a part of her life from ages 5 to 17.Corrie ten Boom had affected everyonebut Anita’s story was different. God’sconstant intervention was nothing lessthan breathtaking. I wasn’t even surewritten words could capture this. Itrequired visible drama.Tyndale House published Angels inthe Camp in 1979—just one versionof a book that would have a forty-yearlifespan, assorted publishers, and morethan one title. Books have short shelflives. Only a few classic stories survivethe test of time. But Anita Dittman’sministry and story have survived fourdecades. She has affected millions of peoplearound the world, of all ages. Gradeschool children sit motionless asshe relates her ordeal. They have noconcept of war and concentrationcamps and deprivation and starvation. They don’t know the meaning of theword separation. Teenagers wholead a carefree life are stunned at hertestimony and write her from manycountries. Their world knows nothingof the dreaded knock on the door whenfamily members are hauled off by theGestapo. Those who are of the World War IIgeneration know of depravity and loveto hear her relate her ordeal. They aredeeply moved and comforted if theylost a loved one in that war. Anitabrings the story home to them. She will write to anyone and encouragethem. She will let a stranger call her ifthey have questions or just want to talkto a Holocaust survivor because alongthe way she can lift them up if they arelow. She will tell these people aboutthe miracles that kept her alive. If Godcan do that for me, He will do it for you, too! He is a miracle-working God shetells people.Every fall Anita Dittman stands behinda book table at my annual conferenceand signs hundreds of her books nowproduced by World Net Daily (wnd.com). A German lady came up to herone year and wept. She apologized forthe insanity of the Third Reich. Whatwere they thinking? Anita talks to everyperson and makes them feel special. At 91 she has slowed down some. She just reminds all that we serve anamazing God.The 40 years have raced by but duringthat time millions more have learnedthat letting government become god,as the Germans did, is not a good idea. Her life verse is Romans 8:28—that allthings do work together for good forthose who love God. Anita remindsevery audience of that. That we reallyare under the shadow of His protectivewings (Psalm 91:4).Yet a world without God will continue tooppress and persecute. The targets willbe heavily Jews and Christians. Pleasedon’t forget those who languish underdeplorable conditions and never forgetthat one single tyrant can unleasha nightmare on millions of innocentpeople.Check out the book or DVDdocumentary Trapped in Hitler’s Hell:A Young Jewish Girl Discovers theMessiah’s Faithfulness in the Midst ofthe Holocaust now produced by WorldNet Daily. OLIVETREEMINISTRIESWorth QuotingFranklin GrahamCalifornia is sinking. People are leaving thestate. They are turning their once beautifulcities into sanctuary cities which are justa little picture of hell. Just go to SanFrancisco and go to this once-beautifulcity and see what has happened to it.Progressive? That’s just another word forgodless.I want the churches to realize they don’thave to take this. The churches can be thevoice. They can be the ones who can turnthis state back to God and turn it back intoa beautiful state.Terry James, Editor “Rapture Ready”WebsiteIsrael is generally considered the primesignal of where we are on God’s prophetictimeline. That strange nation has reachedits 70th birthday so far as its modernincarnation is concerned. A generationis defined by God as 70 years in onespecific instance. Therefore, Jesus, whois the Word, giving this Olivet Prophecyabout the fig tree—often the symbol forIsrael—makes the modern nation’s 70thanniversary living proof to many that theend of the age is upon this generation.I term Israel “strange” because of the factthat it is like no other nation in humanhistory. Having been completely destroyedas a nation, its people dispersed into all theworld and its language dissolved, yet it isnow back in its God-given land. It has itsnative language again and is the center ofworldwide attention.Joel Rosenberg, Author andCommentatorWhat’s fascinating is that most Arableaders loved it. (The cancellation of theIranian nuclear deal)I’ve spoken with two very high-rankingArab officials in recent days about thespeech delivered by Secretary of State MikePompeo at The Heritage Foundation. Bothmade it clear to me how deeply gratefuland appreciative their countries are tothe Trump-Pence administration for finallytaking a bold, decisive, uncompromisingposition against Iranian aggression. One Arab official told me privately: “It’s likethe world is sane again.”After watching Iran be feted and praisedand rewarded and appeased by PresidentObama and his team over the past eightyears, most Sunni Arab leaders arerejoicing that the U.S. is finally treatingIran as the enemy that it is and treating theArab states and Israel as the friends andallies that they are.Our Readers and Listeners RespondJan, your radio program is my favorite of all Christian programming!
