IntroductionACO Floor Drains are simple, single pointsquare drains that provide drainage with minimalinstallation.Floor drains can be stand-alone or integratedinto a trench drain system.Floor Drains are available in AISI 304 or 316Lstainless steel with either a vertical or horizontaloutlet. A number of versions featuring differentgrates, sizes and outlet diameters are alsoavailable to suit various applications and flowrequirements.All Floor Drains are designed with the highesttier of hygienic friendly features.Fixed height floor drains are convenient,free-standing units which are suitable forinstallation in concrete, resin or tiled floors.They can be specified as point drainage inareas where waterproofing is independentof the floor drain body.Bodies are available with either horizontalor vertical outlets.Adjustable floor drains can be installedwith either a floor drain top or ACO TrenchDrain in most flooring constructions,including floors with waterproofingmembranes.Adjustable solutions enable height androtational adjustment of connected floordrain top or channel.Adjustable floor drains are available withlocation or mechanical membrane clampingflanges. ACO FLOOR DRAINGrate SelectionTo select the appropriate grate, the followingproperties should be considered:Best design practice is to minimize traffic acrossthe drain to reduce risk of floor surface/drainageinterface failures from dynamic loadings.The proper load class for the grate is calculated onthe defined traffic during all future operations.Load classSlip resistanceAll ACO Floor Drain grates have been independentlyload tested to ASME 112.6.3. Generally a ‘P’ trap in the pipeworkdirectly below the floor drain acts as a foul airtrap. However, there may be specific instanceswhere a removable foul air trap is required, suchas restricted depth installations, client-specificrequirements, marine (ships & boats) and others.The ACO foul air trap is fully removable and isavailable as an optional accessory to all floordrains. It is available in grade 304 or 316Lstainless steel. The foul air trap prevents foulair from the connected drain and sewer fromentering the building. ACO hastested grate patterns using the widely acceptedpendulum test.A pendulum is swung over a wet surface and thesurface frictional properties are measured. Testresults are given a BPN value - typically valuesin excess of 24 would be used. A BPN of 24 andunder is regarded as high slip and skid potential. Outlet position Outlet diameters to suit various applicationsAll options are available for 8” x 8”, 10” x 10” and 12” x 12” floor drains.ACO recommends selecting a grate with thesimilar BPN values as the surrounding pavementfinish. This is useful when pipes arelocated in areas where usual inspection androdding are not possible.Ø4.33 [110]45 Cleaning methodsStainless steel and nitrile rubber are easy toclean. Washing with soap or a mild detergentand warm water, followed by a clean waterrinse is usually adequate for most industrialapplications. An enhanced aestheticappearance will be achieved if the cleanedsurface is finally wiped dry.Acids should only be used for on-sitecleaning when all other methods have provedunsatisfactory. Rubber gloves should be usedand care taken to ensure acid cleaners are notspilt over adjacent areas.Special precautions are necessary with oxalic acidand solvents should not be used in closed spaceswithout adequate ventilation. The cleaning solutionshould be applied with a swab and allowed tostand for 15–20 minutes before being washedaway with water. Use a mild cleaning solution togive a final clean if required.Scratches on brush (satin) finish.Household synthetic fiber scouring pads.Do not use ordinary steel wool, as particles canbecome embedded in stainless steel and causesurface problems.For deeper scratches; apply scourer in directionof polishing.
