Grade R ActivitiesSuggested time schedule:Morning ringDailyBetween 30 and 45 minutes each day,discuss the planned activities for theday and when eating and playing timewill take place.Mathematics or Language activityChoose between a Language orMathematics activity. Do only one perday and repeat these activities. Thisshould take around 30 minutes or less.BreakTake a small break to eat a snack orenjoy some time playing with toys.DailyGross motor activityDo some gross motor activities insideor outside the house, depending on thetype of activity.You can also enjoy playing a gamewith your child during this timeSpend 45 minutes to an hour on thissection.BreakTake a break to rest and get somefresh air or do daily chores.DailyFine motor activitySit down for some quiet time and do afew fine motor activities. The Colouringin activities can be repeated. Spendabout 30 minutes each day on this.Story timeRead a story to your child and askthem questions about it afterwards.Questions should start easy andbecome more difficult later on.For example:1. Language:Activity 1:Phonics:Ask your child to draw a picture to match the sound given:Ask your child to tell you what they drew and write the correct word in the same block asthe picture like the example given.Example:llionmbhstfo

Language:Activity 2:Ask your child to trace the lines from left to right. Ensure that your child is holdingthe pencil correctly.

Mathematics:Activity 1:Shapes and colours:Ask your child to colour each number the correct colour. This activity will help yourchild to develop their visual skills whilst looking for the numbers as well asknowledge of colours.

Threading:Give your child macaroni or beads with some string. Let them make a necklace in aspecific pattern.2. Prestik:Give your child a small piece of Prestik to put on their thumb. Press down on thePrestik with the index finger, middle finger and so on. Do this with both hands for atleast 3 minutes at a time. You can also use playdough for this activity.3. Playdough: (Playdough recipe attached)Use playdough to make animals, numbers, letter or shapes. If you have child safescissors your child can roll snakes and cut them up using scissors.4. Colouring in: (Colouring in pictures attached)Any colouring in activities are good for fine motor skills. Make sure your child holdsthe pencil correctly. Ask them to trace the lines on the outside and then colour inone direction on the inside.5. Writing:Ask your child to write their name correctly. Capital letter for the first letter andlowercase letter for the rest of their name. DO NOT let them write their name in allcapital letters.Play games:1. Rotten egg2. Hide and seek3. Touchers

Then add the vegetable oil and waterwith food coloring to a large pot. Mix together.

3.Add the dry ingredients to your pot and mix well.4.Cook over low to medium heat until the dough starts to form and becomesdry.5.Once it starts to form a ball together and looks fully cooked, take off the heat.Let the dough cool first before touching.6.Once cool, knead the dough for 5 minutes to make the dough soft.
