How to orderStandard CylindersImprove Identification.Eaton has created an easysystem for ordering RE/RFSeries cylinders, developedto improve our service toyou. The Standard modelcode consists of sixteenalpha-numeric digits whichfully describe the mostcommon standard optionsoffered on RE/RF Seriescylinders.Every RE/RF Series cylinderhas its sixteen digit modelcode clearly marked onthe product, impressionstamped in the metal heador cap. Each 16 digit codecompletely describes aspecific cylinder. This allowsseals and replacementcomponents to be easilyidentified in the field.To specify your RE/RF Seriescylinder, review the followingpages for a full descriptionof each option available andselect the desired code.This model code system will:Simplify the Re-orderProcess.Each RE/RF Series cylinderis assigned a sixteen digitmodel code. That code isunique to a particular cylinderdescription. That way,when you re-order your RE/RF Series cylinder, you’reassured of exactly the sametop quality cylinder design.Facilitate Communications.This fully descriptive modelcode system allows you towork directly with your localEaton sales engineer toidentify and service your RE/RF Series cylinder.Note: See pages 6 and 7 for asummary of model code options.Custom Cylinders(as explained below).New CylindersReplacement CylindersAlthough the model codehas been arranged to coverthe vast majority of availableoptions, there will beoccasions when you requirean option which cannot becoded.Every custom Eaton cylinderis assigned a unique designnumber. A Custom cylinderwill have 22 digits vs. 16 forthe standard cylinder. Thedesign number is containedin the last six digits of themodel code, and position17 is always an alphacharacter. In other words, thedesign number begins afterposition 16. When ordering areplacement cylinder, simplygive the model code or thesix digit design number toyour local Eaton Cylindersales representative.When specifying such anoption, enter an “X” forthe appropriate item inthe sixteen digit modelcode, then describe yourrequirements. For example,if you have an applicationwhich requires a customthread on the end of thepiston rod, enter an “X”for item 7. Then add a fulldescription at the end of themodel code, such as “With3.25 inch total rod projectionand M22 x 1,5 thread 1.375inches long.” The cylinderwill then be given a uniquesix digit design number onreceipt of order (as explainedbelow).If more than one of theavailable options representedin items 15 and 16 arerequired, add the appropriatecodes as a suffix. Thecylinder will then be givena unique six digit designnumber on receipt of orderReplacement PartsEach design number isstored in a quick retrievalcomputerized storagesystem. Mounting stylesSelecting the ProperMountingAvailable MountingsThe variety of standard ANSI/NFPA mountings available inthe Series RE/RF gives youa broad selection to matchthe proper mount to yourapplication. Eaton offersrigid mounts (including sidelug mounts, flange mounts,and extended tie rodmounts) and swivel mounts(including clevis mountsand trunnion mounts). Forcustom mounts, enter “XX”for model code item 2, andgive a detailed descriptionwith drawings. Series RE/RFcylinders are available in allmounting styles listed.G1Just as the cylinder boremust be sized to providethe proper force for anapplication, a cylindermounting that can absorbthese application forces mustalso be specified.VGCAUTIONIn the mountinginformation, some mountshave been downratedto minimize deflection.For applications wherethe motion is linear andparallel to the cylinderrod motion, a rigid mountis recommended. Forcurvilinear motion, aswivel mount should bechosen.
