To Our SupportersDear Friends:As we reflect back on this fiscal year (November 1, 2014 – October 31, 2015), weare filled with gratitude, pride and hope. We sincerely thank you for investing inrestoring smiles and lives. Because of your support, more survivors of domesticviolence can now proudly walk into job interviews without feeling judged andembarrassed and moms can pose and smile proudly for family pictures for thefirst time in 10 years.As the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation (AACDCF)works to fulfill our mission, we are guided by four strategic areas of focus. We areproud to share some of this year’s accomplishments in each of the four areas:Foundation Awareness As part of our continued efforts to increase awareness of Give Back a Smile (GBAS)services, we contacted 650 agencies across the nation who work directly withdomestic violence survivors to inform them about the program. In the last year, the number of applications for GBAS services increased by 5%. We launched a new responsive website that is easier to navigate.Volunteer Support We recruited 150 new volunteer dentists this year and maintained a volunteerretention rate of 90%. The Foundation disbursed more than 18,000 to support the outside expenses (i.e.lab material costs or specialist fees) required to complete smile restorations.You are invited to learn more about this year’s accomplishments detailed in thisannual report. On behalf of the AACDCF leadership team and all of the courageoussurvivors of domestic and sexual violence who need GBAS services, thank you formaking our work possible.In partnership,Financial Stability We have maintained diversified funding sources. This year, four major funding sources exceeded budget!Charitable Impact Eighty-seven GBAS cases were reported complete for a total value of 734,500 indonated dental services. The AACDCF awarded a total of 15,000 in educational scholarships for GBASsmile recipients enrolled in college. Thank You NYU StudentsThe AACDCF extends a special thanks to the NYUCD Aesthetics Society whohas selected the Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program to be the benefactor of theirphilanthropic efforts. The all-student driven effort hosts an annual Gala in New YorkCity. Since their first event in 2012, they have raised more than 50,000 for theGBAS program! The NYUCD Aesthetics Society was honored at the 2015 AmericanAcademy of Cosmetic Dentistry Annual Scientific Session for their outstandingsupport of and dedication to the GBAS program.7
2015 Virtual Race for SmilesPower ofGold WinnerThe AACDCF was awarded a 2015 Power of A Gold Award by the American Society ofAssociation Executives (ASAE). Power of A Awards showcase how associations leveragetheir unique resources to solve problems, advance industry/professional performance,kick start innovation, and improve world conditions. This year GBAS was one of thirtyprograms selected for a Gold Award from 140 entries.The AACDCF is thrilled to be recognized for the life changing work we are doing in thelives of domestic and sexual violence survivors. One GBAS recipient described it best,“It’s hard to put into words how much this opportunity has changed my life. Even afterthe completion of my new smile, it took time to realize that I no longer needed to placemy hand in front of my mouth when speaking or laughing. I’m so thankful. Not onlydid these people give me back my smile, but also gave me back my life.”Between October 9 - 11, more than 200 people around the U.S. got out in very creative ways tosupport Give Back a Smile while raising awareness of domestic violence.8
