To Our SupportersDear Friends:Since 1999, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) Charitable Foundation has assisted in rebuilding the smiles and lives of more than1,700 adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence. We make this happenthrough our flagship program, Give Back a Smile (GBAS) and through oureducational scholarship program for GBAS recipients enrolled in college.You are invited to learn more about this year’s accomplishments detailed inthis annual report. On behalf of the AACDCF leadership team and all of thecourageous survivors of domestic and sexual violence who need GBAS services, thank you for making our work possible.In partnership,The AACD Charitable Foundation continues to focus its efforts on restoringmore smiles each year. We have also acknowledged that there is a substantialneed for more comprehensive dental care for GBAS applicants. In an effortto address this need, the Foundation is now able to provide services via twodivisions of Give Back a Smile: 1) smile-zone only restorations 2) full mouthrestorations which we call Give Back a Bigger Smile.Your investment in restoring smiles and lives–makes this all possible.Specifically, financial contributions are used to: Manage the application process and connect volunteer dentistswith applicants. I’m so glad there are dentistsout there that participate in GBAS because thereare so many women out there who are in the samecircumstance. GBAS didn’t just give me backmy smile, it gave me back my life. It gave methe courage and self-esteem that I needed to goback out and be a productive member of society; go back to work, take care of mydaughter and just live again. Dr. White is my hero.”Dental Post Founder and CEO, Tonya Lanthier knows first-hand how it feels tohave a broken smile after losing multiple front teeth due to an accident when shewas a child. That accident lead her to her passion for and career in dentistry. It’s alsowhy she is such a strong supporter of the Give Back a Smile because she knows thepower of a restored smile.This year marked Dental Post’s 5th annual “Go Jump in the Lab” party. TonyaLanthier invited a few hundred of her closest friends and colleagues to her lakehome and encouraged each and every guest to make a donation to the Give Backa Smile program. We are sincerely grateful for Dental Post’s continued support!7
