2019 Annual Membership Meeting ReportAmerican Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation Board of TrusteesSubmitted By: Parihan Tamkin, DDS, ChairBoard Members: Chair, Parihan Tamkin, DDS, Vice Chair, Trish Jones, Member, Scott Greenhalgh, DDS, Member, LesLatner, DDS, AAACD, Member Nancy SullivanCharge:To manage the affairs of the AACD Charitable FoundationDate: 3/15/2019How has the BOT fulfilled its charge and contributed to the strategic plan? The AACD Charitable Foundation assists in rebuilding the smiles and lives of adult survivors of domestic and sexualviolence. We do this through our Give Back a Smile (GBAS) and scholarship programs. The Foundation’s strategy focuses on two goals: 1) to increase net revenue 2) to increase charitable impact. Here is asummary of the work since last report, that has occurred to help accomplish these goals.Goal 1) To increase net revenue. Much of the Foundation’s revenue is generated through fundraising initiatives here at the annual conference. We invite you to support by attending tonight’s 20th anniversary GBAS event, bidding in the silent auction or byparticipating in the wine pull. One of our largest sources of revenue comes from our Whitening Challenge sponsored by Kulzer. Participatingoffices whitening their patients’ teeth with all proceeds coming to GBAS.The Foundation is grateful to have established relationships with MyntSmile and Professional TransitionStrategies who are both donating a portion of their profits to the Foundation. The other major source of revenue comes from individual cash donations. The Foundation depends on suchdonations to carry out our mission and have focused on improving donor stewardship. Your tax-deductiblefinancial gift:o Ensures eligible GBAS applicants are connected with volunteer cosmetic dentists to restore theirdamaged smileso Makes certain GBAS patients have sufficient resources to travel to and from all dental appointmentso Assists with dental laboratory costs and specialist fees often required to complete dental treatmento Supports outreach efforts to increase awareness of GBAS services and the issue of domestic violenceo Provides educational scholarships to eligible GBAS program recipients enrolled in collegeDonate anytime online at www.aacd.com/donate. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Everyone is invited to participate in the Annual Virtual Race forSmiles. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your team to do something together outside of the officewhile supporting Give Back a Smile. Watch for more information this summer.Goal 2) To increase charitable impact.

Since last report, there have been 67 survivors of domestic or sexual violence who have been newly connectedwith volunteers for smile restorations. There have been 35 GBAS smile restorations reported complete. There are about 70 people currently receiving GBAS treatment. Another way the Foundation gives back is through our scholarship program which is available to Give Back aSmile recipients seeking college degrees. This is last year, we awarded 4,000. This year, we will be awarding 10,000. From the words of a GBAS smile recipient: “This truly has been a life-saver for me. Through counseling andhaving my teeth repaired, memories of that day and experience of being in an abusive relationship is in thepast.”Thank you for your dedication to the AACD Charitable Foundation!END
