Since everything comes from God, we are God’s own. We can never put God in our debt. There is absolutely no negotiating with God. Every breath we take is a gift. Everygood deed we perform is grace.Good stewards realize they are created and called tomake the beauty, greatness, compassion and justice ofGod and his gifts known throughout the world. Thestewardship question for us is whether we are willing toembrace this call, acknowledge our dependence on Godand give our lives over to him completely for this purpose.Saturday, August 294:30-5:15 p.m.: Confessions, Rectory (Porch)5:30 p.m.: Vigil Mass: For the PastorateCollection Report from August 16(We have issued 120 envelopes)Regular Collection:(19 envelopes)Loose:Total: 1364.00 40.00 1404.00Volunteers for sanitizing Church August 29:After 5:30 Mass: Deb Wallpe, Judy HubertzLiturgical Ministers for August 29Would you pray for a priesteach day this week?August 24 - Fr. Pastor’s Note.Dear Parishioners,Every week I hope to use this space to address some theological or spiritual issue. However, today Iam going to tell you a few things about myself. I was born and grew up in Fowler, Indiana. After attending Sacred Heart School, I went to Our Lady of the Lakes– Wawasee Prep for High School then to St.Meinrad for college. After college I took a year off from school and lived in Frankfort, Indiana. Duringthis time I felt called to pursue the vocation of priest. I attended the Catholic University of Louvain(Belgium) and had the wonderful experience of living in Europe for 3 years. I was ordained a priest atthe Cathedral in Lafayette in 1979. My first assignment was Associate Pastor of St. Joseph in Logansport from 1979 to 1984. From 1984 to 1988. I was an associate pastor at St. Thomas AquinasParish at Purdue University. Then I became Associate Pastor at the Cathedral until 1990 and the pastor of the Cathedral until 1998. On July 1, 1998 I was assigned as pastor of St. Paul Parish in Marionand then in 2007 became the pastor of Holy Family, Gas City. While remaining pastor of St. Paul. Iwas in Grant County until June 2018 when I was appointed pastor of St. Joseph in Lebanon. After being in Lebanon for a little over 2 years I have been assigned pastor of the pastorate of Southwest Newton and Benton Counties. I look forward to being with you and meeting the challenges weface.Fr. Stewardship Reflection for August 23rdIn our Gospel passage, from Matthew, Jesus poses a question to the discples: “Whodo people say that the Son of Man is?” And they offer varying responses. Then, Jesus gets personal with them. “But who do you say that I am?” Peter gets the answerright: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”Jesus is getting personal with us today. He poses the same question to each of uswho call ourselves His stewards and modern-day disciples. But do our lives truly reflect this? If we really believe that Christ is the Son of God,sent to save us from our sins and lead us to Heaven, then we must say so, not justwith words but with our actions. Do my ambitions and priorities in life say that Christis my Savior and I am His disciple? Does my budget, my family life, my entertainmentsay so?The gifts and blessings God has given us — our time, our talents, our material possessions — are meant tobe used in a manner that says "Christ is my Savior and I am His disciple." The most eloquent praise we canoffer Him is a life lived in grateful response to His unfathomable love. This is the beauty and power of a stewardship way of life.FormedDiscover all the best Catholic content in one place. Entertaining movies, programs, talks, audio dramas, andebooks - just a click away!
