2017-2018HANDBOOKLVBC PARENTCLUBS;Meeting TimeWednesday evenings from 6:55pm to 8:30pmDoors Open & Check-In begins at 6:45pmT&T Fast Track Times 6:45pm-7:00pm & 8:30pm-8:45pmChildren will make new friends, play exciting games, enjoychallenging contests, earn awards, and learn Biblical truths. Below isa list of our clubs:Puggles (2-3 Year olds): Children are welcomed eachweek with play time, songs, simple crafts, and activities.Leaders present age-appropriate lessons using colorfulteaching cards, finger puppet plays, and more.Cubbies (3-4 Year Olds): Cubbies celebrate the spiritualpotential of preschoolers by helping them develop respectfor God, His Son, and His Word.Sparks (K-2nd Grade): Sparks ignites the curiosity of earlyelementary-age kids to learn about the people and eventsof the Bible, which in-turn helps to build a strongfoundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.Truth & Training (3rd-6th Grade): T&T engages kids byanswering their questions about God and the Bible, guidingthem through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ’sgrace.Our prayer is that all childrenand youth throughout the worldwill come to know, love, andserve the Lord Jesus Christ.3

2017-2018PARENT HANDBOOKCLUB SEGMENTS;Opening Ceremony (Sparks and Truth & Training Clubs)All clubbers should be in their assigned row in the auditorium tobegin by 6:55pm. The Awana flag will be presented; clubbers willremain standing during the pledge, reciting of Awana verse(2 Tim 2:15), and opening prayer.Awana Flag PledgeI pledge allegiance to the Awana flag, which stands for the AwanaClubs, whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel ofChrist, and train them to serve Him.Awana Verse2 Timothy 2:15 - “Do your best to present yourself to God as oneapproved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightlyhandling the Word of Truth.”Club SegmentsThere are three different segments for each club. Each segmentruns approximately 30 minutes: Small Group Time is when clubbers recite thesections they have learned to their leaders. It isalso a wonderful opportunity for leaders to teachclubbers the meaning of the verses they havememorized. Two “helps” per section (notverse) ”one or two word hints.” No “helps” inthe extra credit sections. Prayer time is alsodone at this time. T&T clubbers utilize smallgroup time to dive further into the lesson learnedduring large group. T&T clubbers recite versesduring Fast Track time; however, the same rulesapply with “helps” as explained above. Large Group Time is when the clubbers hear aBiblical message and Gospel presentation.Clubbers are challenged to accept Christ andgrow spiritually. Game Time is a fun time for all clubbers. Theyparticipate in games just for their age level forfun, to develop good sportsmanship, and toencourage clubbers to work as a team.4

2017-2018PARENTPROTECTION& SAFETY;HANDBOOKSecure Check-In ProcessThe security and protection of your child is of great importance to LVBC andthe Awana leadership. KidCheck is the secure check-in system we use forAwana at LVBC. This system expedites the check-in process and allows us topartner with you to keep your child safe.Parent(s), Legal Guardian(s), or a responsible party (age 16 or older) MUSTcheck-in all clubbers in the lobby just inside the main auditorium doors eachnight. For Puggles and Cubbies, after checking your child into our KidChecksystem, you will need to take your child downstairs to either the PugglesClassroom for Puggles or the Fellowship Hall for Cubbies. Please do not allowyour child to linger unattended in the lobby or classrooms before Awanastarts.In order to use KidCheck, each individual guardian needs to create their freepersonalized account by going to go.kidcheck.com and selecting “Create YourKidCheck Account.” You can also download the KidCheck Mobile App from theApp Store or Google Play Store to create, manage, and update your accountright on your mobile deviceCreating your account is simple and will only take a few minutes. Onceyou’ve created your account, you can simply use your 10 digit phonenumber to check-in with us each time upon arrival.Additionally, we are using KidCheck’s Express Check-In, which allows you tocheck-in right from your own phone – no waiting in line, no check-in station! Youwill need to check in for the first time with your 10 digit phone number at acheck-in station, but after that, you can use Express Check-In, using these fewsimple steps:1. Download the KidCheck App (as noted above)2. Start check-in on your phone – from home, the car, the parking lot3. Complete check-in upon arrival by tapping the green submit button4. Pick up your printed name tag and guardian receipt labels5

2017-2018PARENTPROTECTION& SAFETY;HANDBOOKAdult leaders will guide your child to each segment of the club night. Each Awanavolunteer has completed a background clearance in order to be able to work withthe clubbers. All leaders will be wearing a uniform and/or nametag to help easilyidentify them as Awana leaders.Parents are welcomed to sit in the the parents’ section of the auditorium eachevening for the Sparks and Truth & Training Opening and Closing Ceremonies.All parents are welcome to stay for the T&T Large Group Time in the Auditorium.Sparks parents are also invited to attend the Sparks Large Group Time in theAuditorium at 8:00pm. Parents may not sit with their children during LargeGroup Time, or accompany the clubbers to any other segments of the evening.Parent(s), Legal Guardian(s), or a responsible party (age 16 or older) mustcheck-out all clubbers at the designated areas each night. 2017-2018PARENTGUIDELINES& CONDUCTHANDBOOKIn order to have a safe, enjoyable, and orderly environment, our club hasestablished these guidelines. Please read and discuss the Awana Code ofConduct with your child.Awana Code of Conduct1.I will treat everyone with courtesy and respect.2.I will treat personal and church property with respect.3.I will create and maintain a positive and safe environment.4.I will come to Awana prepared for learning.5.I will act responsibly and accept consequences for my actions.6.I will help everyone in Awana feel capable, connected, and contributing.Awana Club Rules1.Walk at all times (except during games).2.Remain with your leader at all times during club.3.Remain in the church building at all times. If you need to leave early, anapproved parent or guardian must sign you out.4.Wear your complete Awana uniform with all awards.5.For fun and for your safety, we encourage you to wear sneakers becausethere will be running during Game Time.Awana 3-Strike71-Strike:Clubber will receive a verbal warning from leader.2-Strike:Clubber will receive a verbal warning from director.3-Strike:Parents will be called and clubber will be sent home. Theclubber may return to club the following week when he/sheis ready to respect club rules.

2017-2018PARENT HANDBOOKAWARDS & SHARES;AwardsEach Awana Clubber has the opportunity to earn exciting awards.These awards will be worn on the uniform. Awards may only be givenwhen a child is in uniform. These awards should be displayed andworn proudly. They represent good achievement and spiritual growthin the knowledge of God and His Word. We will encourage all youngpeople to strive for their highest potential. Each child works at his/herown pace and will be guided and helped by a caring leader.Awana Shares (only for Sparks and Truth & Training Clubs)Each week the clubbers have the opportunity to earn Awana sharesthat they can “spend” at the Awana store. This is to encouragechildren to give their full participation at the club. The store will openfrom 8:30-8:45 PM every night, beginning in October. LVBC POLICIES;In order to have a safe, enjoyable, and orderly environment,Lebanon Valley Bible Church has established these policies:Electronics Policy:For the security of your personal property, we are enforcing a NOelectronics/toys policy. If your child brings any of either kind, it will betaken and given back at the end of the evening.Sick Child Policy:We are concerned for all children who attendAwana. Their health and safety is of theutmost importance to us. Therefore, we areasking that if your child did not attend schoolthe day of Awana or is displaying signs ofsickness including fever, vomiting, nausea,diarrhea, any contagious disease, open sores,or a questionable illness, that you please keepthem home. If a child becomes sick while atAwana, we will contact you to come pick upyour child.Book Policy:All children will receive one complimentaryhandbook each year. If that book is lost, therewill be a 10 charge for a replacement book.9

PHOTO RELEASE;Photo Release Statement:I hereby grant permission to Lebanon Valley Bible Church, its officers, pastors, elders,deacons, trustees, employees, agents, representatives, successors, licensees, and assigns(hereinafter collectively referred to as “LVBC”), to photograph, record, or videotape (in anymedia) my child's image, likeness, depiction, testimony, or statement. I hereby grantpermission to LVBC to edit, crop, alter, or retouch such photographs, recordings,statements, or digital images, and waive any right to inspect the final photographs,recordings, statements, or images. I hereby consent to and permit the photographs,recordings, statements, and images of me to be used by LVBC worldwide for any legalpurpose, and in any medium, including print and electronic.I understand that LVBC may use such photographs, recordings, statements, or images withor without associating names thereto. I further waive any claim for compensation of anykind for LVBC’s use or publication of photographs, recordings, statements or images of me.I further waive any right or interest that I may have in such photographs, recordings,statements, or images, or the lawful uses to which they may be applied.I hereby grant to LVBC all rights to reproduce, display, and disseminate such photographs,recordings, statements, and images of me, in whole or in part, or altered in character orform, as well as related posters, websites, social media, presentations, programs, andpublications. I further grant to LVBC all rights to make reproductions of such photographs,recordings, statements, and images through any media, for any lawful purpose. I also grantLVBC all rights of copyright to such photographs, recordings, statements, and images, andall rights to publish, market, or assign such photographs, recordings, statements, andimages without compensation or report to me.I hereby fully and forever discharge and release LVBC from any claim for damages orclaims of any kind (including, but not limited to, invasion of privacy; defamation; false lightor misappropriation of name, likeness or image) or any other cause of action arising out ofthe use or publication, distribution, modification and exhibition of photographs, recordings,statements, and/or images of me by LVBC, and covenant and agree not to sue or otherwiseinitiate legal proceedings against LVBC for such use or publication. All grants of permissionand consent, and all covenants, agreements and understandings contained herein areirrevocable.I hereby represent that I am 18 years of age orolder at the time of signing and have the full legalcapacity to execute this Release. I furtheracknowledge that I have read this entire document,that I understand the contents, meanings, andimpact, and that I have signed it knowingly andvoluntarily.10

MEDICAL RELEASEMedical Release:We hereby give permission for our young person to attend the children's activitiessponsored or promoted by Lebanon Valley Bible Church, September 5, 2018 throughMay 1, 2019.In case of an emergency or if any medical treatment is necessary we hereby grant LebanonValley Bible Church and its adult representatives, a medical power of attorney to be usedon behalf of our young person.We authorize and empower Lebanon Valley Bible Church and its adult leaders to utilize theirdecision in ordering or approving any medical treatment deemed necessary for our youngperson, by any licensed healthcare provider. We grant to the adult leaders the power tomake all medical decisions and to authorize and approve all medical procedures in themanner as we could if we were personally present and required to make such decisions.We agree to reimburse Lebanon Valley Bible Church and its leaders for any expenses whichthe church or leaders may have incurred regarding any medical treatment for our youngperson.We understand that Lebanon Valley Bible Church is not responsible or liable for our youngperson's personal effects and property. We agree to hold Lebanon Valley Bible Church andthe adult leaders harmless in the event of theft or loss resulting from any source or cause.We understand that this form is a blanket release that will be used for Awana activitiessponsored or promoted by Lebanon Valley Bible Church, which our young person mayattend.If at any time any information that we provided on this form changes we recognize that it isour responsibility to inform Lebanon Valley Bible Church of that change. We alsounderstand that if we decide at any future date to invalidate this parental liability andmedical release form we must do so in writing 10 days prior to any event in which ouryoung person may be involved.11

PUGGLES;Director & Teacher: Crystal BoyerPuggles recognizes the learning ability of 2- and 3-year olds byintroducing Biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teachthem at home. Toddlers love having their very own Awana Club just liketheir older siblings.In Puggles, children are welcomed each week with play time, songs,simple crafts, and activities. Leaders present age-appropriate lessonsusing colorful teaching cards, finger puppet plays and more.Lessons teach and reinforce four basic Biblical precepts: God Made Everything God Saw That It Was Good God is Love Give ThanksParticipating in Puggles will give your child a head start on the path toloving and following God for life.PARENT ROLEParents have the awesome responsibility toguide little minds to big truths. Weencourage you to ask your child whathe/she learned that evening and try toreinforce those concepts.12

CUBBIES;Directors: Chris Thomas & Kim WebberCubbies celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3- to 5-yearolds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son, and His Word.Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies Club meeting.Whether it's the fun puppets, the exciting games, or all their Cubbiesfriends, they simply love it. At Story Time each week, preschoolerslearn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and aboutHis Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior.Cubbies helps you lead your child to God early so your child will respectand trust Him for life.PARENT ROLECubbies encourages parental involvement.Your child's handbooks feature parent-childactivities for home. You will lead your childthrough handbook sections, called BearHugs, to prepare for the next clubgathering. Each Bear Hug includes optionalactivities, called "Under the Apple Tree," forreviewing Bible verses and lessons learnedearlier.At club, your Cubbie will review the verseyou helped teach at home. Working throughthe handbook with your child develops yourspiritual leadership and helps you instill yourchild with a lifelong Biblical worldview.13

CUBBIES CURRICULUM;The Cubbies curriculum features two handbooks. Both are written in afun, storybook style with read-aloud stories and lovable characters thatappeal to preschoolers.The AppleSeed and HoneyComb handbooks combine basic Scripturememory with parent-child activities to help Cubbies grasp simpleBiblical truths. One handbook is completed in a club year. Eachhandbook contains 26 Bear Hug sections along with four special-daysections.Awards
