Presidential Searchat Wingate UniversityThe Board of Trustees of Wingate University in Wingate, NorthCarolina, a highly respected comprehensive, coeducational privateuniversity, has launched a national search for the 10th Presidentof the University. Dr. Jerry McGee has announced plans to retirein May 2015. He will have served 23 years as President when heretires. The Search Committee invites applications, nominations, andexpressions of interest during this recruitment for the next leader toadvance the vision and mission of Wingate. Wingate UniversityFounded in 1896, Wingate University,serves more than 3,000 students acrossthree campuses in North Carolina.While an independent institutionof higher learning the Universityhonors its historic faith-based rootsin developing educated, ethical, andproductive citizens. Throughout itsdistinguished history, Wingate hasadapted to changing environments andhas seized opportunities to evolve inrelevant and dynamic ways.The University is in the midst ofone of the most vibrant eras in itshistory. Participants are nominated and selected at theend of their first semester. During theWingate University - Presidential SearchWingate University is accredited bythe Southern Association of Collegesand Schools Commission on Collegesto award baccalaureate, masters, anddoctorate degrees and is in goodstanding with 10 discipline-specificaccrediting bodies as well.Wingate student athletes, the Bulldogs,compete in 22 NCAA Division IIsports. The University has won theathletic excellence award of the SouthAtlantic Conference for the past eightyears.The University’s 400-acre main campusis in Wingate, 30 miles southeast ofCharlotte. Wingate is one of only threeinstitutions in North Carolina that hasa four-year residency requirement.The Ballantyne campus is in Charlotte,where the Adult Bachelor DegreeCompletion, MBA, GraduateEducation, and Master of Arts in SportManagement programs, as well ascontinuing education opportunities, areoffered.The Hendersonville campus that islocated in western North Carolina hasPharmacy, Physician Assistant Studies,and MBA programs.At the end of the 2013-2014 fiscal year,the endowment was approaching 50million. He or she will be committed tothe Christian principles of faith andservice and will be of high integrity,sound character, and good judgment.Committed to a fund-raising agendaand relationship building, the Presidentwill develop new channels of supportfor the University.
