For over 100 years, pioneers have travelled to the region, first in search of valuable minerals, andnow seeking a sanctuary focused onfamily, community and the beautifuloutdoors. Mining still forms the baseof a thriving economy that has nowdiversified and welcomes a variety ofartisans, small businesses, and an activeyear-round recreational and culturaltourism industry.View the Cultural Guide content and past issues onlineat ElkValleyCulture.comCover Image Painting By: Melanie MacVoy2tourismfernie.com #ferniestokePhoto Credit: Vince MoFERNIE is the largest and oldest ofthe 3 main communities in the ElkValley.
