A major aim of the DSRIP program is reducingavoidable hospital utilization by 25%, over the fiveyears of the program, by providing incentives toparticipating providers. The DSRIP incentive fund is approximately 6.4billion, to be paid out over five years to PerformingProvider Systems on the basis of meeting DSRIPproject metrics. The PPS will then distribute the funds toparticipating providers based on formulas approvedby NY State.

Safety net providers will be required to collaborate toimplement innovative projects focusing on systemtransformation, clinical improvement andpopulation health improvement. All DSRIP funds will be based on performancelinked to achievement of project milestones.

The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) serves as anadvisory entity within the PPS that offersrecommendations and feedback on PPS initiatives. The AW Medical PAC will be involved in the variousfacets of developing the Project Plan and engagedin the implementation and oversight of the ProjectPlan. AW Medical will hold PAC meetings, conferencecalls, and webinars to share and review proposalsas well as discuss ideas that will affect the PPS andits workforce.

AW Medical will be conducting a needs assessment ofthe targeted areas which includes: Manhattan, theBronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Nassau county. The Bronx and Brooklyn needs assessments will becompleted by the NY Academy of Science along withthe other Emerging PPS in those counties. The Bronxand Brooklyn assessments held their first face-to-facemeetings and have begun the assessment process witha review of proposed Primary Data CollectionInstruments: Manhattan, Queens and Nassau will be completed by aconsulting firm familiar with the targeted geography. AW MEDICAL will add additional community inputthrough focus groups, stakeholder interviews andlocal media.
