Studentswill not finish the degree in high school, rather this program will provide students an opportunity to finish themajority of the prerequisites for the Associate Degree while in high school. Thus moving these students closer toengaging in field that they feel passionate about.Degreed Program - CNM’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree is a 68 – 69 credit hour six (6) Term(semester) program.Criteria for Entry - The following Criteria must be met before students can enter the Nursing Program;a. Students must be a senior attending a Rio Rancho Public School.b. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.c. Students must have a grade of a B or higher in Biology and Chemistry or a C or better in AP Biology or APChemistry.d. Students must have a 3 or higher on the most current PARCC tests available.e. Students must take the Accuplacer for CNM in April of their junior year.f. Students must take the Biology Placement Exam for CNM in April of their junior year. The BiologyPlacement Exam is intended for students with significant prior experience in chemistry and biology.Students must pass this exam with a score of 64 or higher to enter this program. This will waive theprerequisites for BIO 2110/BIO 2192, BIO 2210/BIO 2292 and NUTR 2110. This waiver is only for the AASNursing Program.g. Students must have taken or be taking Algebra 2.h. Students must have a 95% attendance history at their home school.i. Students must fill out an application with counselors’ signature.j. Students and parents must sign commitment agreement to the program.k. Students must have 21 credits at their home school to apply for this program.Criteria to stay in the Nursing Programa.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.10/26/16Students must maintain a 3.0 at their home schoolStudents will take their core classes at their home school. These include Math, Science, English and History.Students will take the program classes with CNM and maintain a C or better in all Dual Enrollment classes.Students abide by all points on the commitment agreement.Student must maintain a 95% attendance record with no unexcused absences.Student must be on time for classes. Tardies are not acceptable.Students must not have any level 2 or 3 discipline infractions and no more than a total of 2 level 1 referrals.Students suspected of a drug impairment, will be dealt with according to CNM policies while on the CNMcampus.Students are CNM students as well as RRPS students. CNM rules and regulations as well as RRPS rules andregulations apply to all students in the Nursing Program.

During the summer betweenthe Junior and Senior Year, students will take:a. AAS Mathematics (MATH 1210 or higher) – Methods of Problem Solving 4 credit hoursb. ENG 1101 – College Writing – Emphasizes text-based essay composition, including critical reading,summary writing and synthesis. (Students who have taken AP English and have scored a 3 or higher onthe AP test, will be able to take English 1102.)3 credit hoursTotal – 7 credit hours2. Semester 1 –a. Human Anatomy and Physiology I - Human Anatomy and Physiology I is an integrated study ofhuman structure and function that covers the integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. -3 credit hoursb. Human Anatomy and Physiology I Lab - The Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab experience servesto enhance the student’s understanding of the concepts discussed in the lecture. 1 credit hourc. Introduction to Psychology - Introduces psychology as a science: the study of behavior and mentalprocesses. Topics surveyed include methodology, biological psychology, learning, memory,psychological disorders, psychotherapy and social psychology. 3 credit hours(Students who have taken AP Psychology and have scored a 3 or higher on the AP test, will takeDevelopmental Psychology)Total – 7 credit hours3. Semester 2a. Microbiology - Microbiology introduces concepts of microbiology, host-parasite relationships, infectionand immunity. 3 credit hoursb. Microbiology Lab – The Microbiology Lab investigates a variety of techniques designed to facilitate thegrowth, identification and control of microorganisms. 1 credit hourc. Pathophysiology I – Focuses on building a basic understanding of pathophysiology for health sciencestudents. Jumpstart your careerCentral New Mexico Community CollegeRio Rancho Public SchoolsRRPS/CNM Nursing Program Rights and Responsibilities of Students1.The Central New Mexico Community College and RRPS reserves the right to determine admission to the Nursing Program.Students must meet all pre-requisites as determined by CNM and RRPS.2.The high school is the final authority on high school graduation requirements. Students must work closely with a high schoolcounselor to ensure that graduation requirements are met. It is understood that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure thatthe college course(s) completed as part of the dual credit program will also meet high school graduation requirements for electivecredit.3.The parent/guardian and student understand that if the student does not successfully complete the dual credit courses, thestudent may not meet high school graduation requirements and may not graduate on time.4.Student must contact CNM Dual Credit Representative to complete drop process within the first two weeks of school and returnto home school. If a student drops a class that affects graduation, i.e. electives, the student must enroll at RRPS Night School torecover the classes they have potentially missed.5.The student and/or parent/guardian are responsible for transportation to and from the CNM classes.6.The student and/or parent/guardian may be responsible for campus fees, consumable supplies, class fees, and any other relatededucational expenses associated with the Nursing Program. This is to include state testing fees.7.The parent/guardian and the student understand that the student is expected to participate fully in all course activities, includinglabs, which may involve being exposed to alternative viewpoints that may include material of an adult nature.Students may not have any unexcused absences in the CNM classes.8.9.The parent/guardian and the student understand that the CNM schedules classes on their campus. Classes may or may not beoffered at preferred times for the student.10. The parent/guardian and student understand that RRPS is not liable for the student’s health and safety when the student has leftthe high school campus.11. The parent/guardian and student understand that students in the dual credit program have the same rights and responsibilities asany other Central New Mexico Community College student.12. Student and parents must understand that the lottery scholarship can be impacted negatively after the qualifying semester byoutcome of CNM course grades.13. Students and parents must understand NCAA Clearinghouse rules for eligibility.14. Where applicable, the student gives permission for CNM to release registration information, grades, placement test scores,student academic progress, attendance, and on track completion of coursework to his/her high school administrator(s) and/orcounselors. Parents must complete the CNM Proxy Student Authorization form for access to student information.15. Students are responsible for returning the textbooks and unused course supplies to their respective high school when the studentcompletes the course. If not returned the student will be charged for the book(s) following the same procedures the high schoolutilizes to collect for lost or severely damaged textbooks.16.
