COLLEGIATE DECA ICDC REGISTRATION GUIDECONFERENCE ACTIVITIESThe Collegiate DECA Virtual International Career Development Conference offers the opportunityfor members to participate in competitive events, institutes, challenges, workshops, executiveofficer elections and more.COMPETITIVE EVENTSEXECUTIVE OFFICER ELECTIONSCollegiate DECA’s Competitive Events Program allows studentsto put their experience, skills and knowledge to the test whilerepresenting their college or university. Students compete fortop international honors in one of 25 competitions. Students areevaluated by business and industry professionals against industryvalidated knowledge and skill standards. See the Collegiate DECAGuide for the official competitive events list (page 27), generalrules and regulations (page 26) and specific guidelines for eachcompetitive event.One exciting highlight of the conference is the election ofthe executive officer team who will serve the upcoming year.Collegiate DECA’s Executive Officers are elected by the studentmembers to provide leadership for the current academic year. Asour primary student public relations agents, Collegiate DECA’sExecutive Officers represent more than 5,000 members to avariety of key stakeholders, including fellow members, advisors,education administrators, business partners, public policymakersand more. They also develop a program of leadership to assist inthe implementation of DECA Inc.’s strategic plan. Marriott FoundationThe Culinary Management Institute is a dynamic, interactivelearning activity designed for students enrolled in culinary/foodservice programs. Activities include discussions and interactionbetween students and top industry professionals on topics such ascurrent trends and issues in the food service industry. The CulinaryManagement Institute includes the popular hands-on CulinaryChallenge team competition.ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGESponsored by IntuitThe Entrepreneurship Challenge allows students to join those whoshare the entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurship-focused seminarsallow for in-depth discussion and interactive learning betweenstudents and successful entrepreneurs. The program includesthe popular Entrepreneurship Challenge team competition. TheEntrepreneurship Challenge seminars and team competition areopen to all conference participants. Students may register for theEntrepreneurship Challenge as their primary conference activity.Event competitors may also participate in the challenge as asecondary conference activity as their schedule allows.SALES CHALLENGESponsored by England LogisticsThe Sales Challenge allows students to join their fellow participantsin preparing for their chosen career, giving them the chanceto really know what it means to sell. Sales-focused seminarsallow for in-depth discussion and interactive learning on the keyprinciples of selling: prospecting, pre-approach, approach, needsidentification, the presentation, sales resistance, closing the sale,and after the sale service. The program also includes the popularSales Challenge competition. The Sales Challenge seminars andindividual competition are open to all conference participants.Students may register for the Sales Challenge as their primaryconference activity. COLLEGIATE DECA ICDC REGISTRATION GUIDEADDITIONAL INFORMATIONVOTING DELEGATESThe Voting Delegate Allocation policy forCollegiate DECA is as follows, accordingto the Collegiate DECA Bylaws:“Sixty (60) days prior to theannual meeting of this division thedetermination of the apportionmentof the additional voting delegateswill be made according to reportedmembership.”This final, official allocation will besent to association advisors prior tothe International Career DevelopmentConference in a Collegiate ICDC UpdateReport. It is up to the association advisoror designee to allocate voting delegateslots for their association.CONDUCT ANDDRESS CODEAll attendees are required to adhere tothe Conference Delegate Practices andProcedures and Dress Code. All participants must be paid studentmembers of Collegiate DECA. Allcompetitors must be submitted asmembers in the online membershipsystem by February 15. Dues must bepaid in full before registering.SPECIAL NEEDSREQUESTSWe want to make every opportunityavailable for our special needs membersto participate in ICDC. An online form is atdeca.org/cicdcspecialservices to identifystudents that need special services.
