KEY, RADIO FREQUENCY REMOTE CONTROLS: general information (2/2)Radio frequency remotecontrol operating rangeThis varies according to the environment: take care not to lock or unlockthe doors by inadvertently pressing thebuttons on the remote control.Note: on certain vehicles, if a door isnot opened within approximately 2 minutes of the door being unlocked byremote control, the doors will lock againautomatically.InterferenceInterference by factors in the immediatevicinity (external installations or the useof equipment operating on the samefrequency as the remote control) mayaffect the operation of the remote control.For replacement, or if yourequire an additional remotecontrol.You must only contact an approvedDealer.– To replace a remote control, thevehicle and all its keys must betaken to an authorised dealeras the vehicle and remote control are required to initialise thesystem.– Depending on the vehicle, youhave the option of using up tofour remote controls.Remote control unit failureMake sure that the correct batterytype is being used, and that thebattery is in good condition and inserted correctly. DEADLOCKING11Deadlocking the doorsTo activate deadlockingIf fitted to the vehicle, this allows thedoors to be locked and prevents themfrom being opened with the interiorhandles (for example, by breaking thewindow and then trying to open thedoors from the inside).Press button 1 twice in quick succession.The hazard warning lights and indicator lights flash five times to indicate thatthe doors have locked.Special note: deadlocking is not possible if the hazard warning lights or theside lights are lit.Never use deadlocking ifsomeone is still inside thevehicle.1.6

RENAULT CARD: general information (1/2)The RENAULT card is usedfor:12345– locking and unlocking the doors(refer to the following pages);– switch on the vehicle lighting remotely (refer to the following pages);– starting the engine; refer to the information on “Starting the engine” inSection 2.Battery life1 Unlocking the doors and tailgate.2 Locking all doors and tailgate.3 Switch on the courtesy lighting remotely.4 Locking/unlocking the boot and thesliding side doors.5 Integrated key.Make sure that the correct battery typeis being used, and that the battery is ingood condition and inserted correctly.Its service life is approximately twoyears: replace it when the message“KEYCARD BATTERY LOW” appearson the instrument panel (refer to the information on the “RENAULT card: battery" in section 5).RENAULT card operatingrangeThis varies according to the surroundings: when handling the RENAULTcard, it is important to make sure thatyou do not lock or unlock the doors byinadvertently pressing the buttons.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone in your vehicle, even fora short time.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors, for example.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.When the battery is flat, you canstill lock/unlock and start your vehicle. RENAULT CARD: general information (2/2)Access to key 5Press button 6 and pull on key 5 thenrelease the button.Using the key56Please refer to the information on“Locking and unlocking the opening elements”.Once you have accessed the vehicleusing the integrated key, replace itin its housing in the RENAULT card,then insert the RENAULT card intothe card reader to start the vehicle.The integrated key is used to lock orunlock the front left-hand door and, depending on the vehicle, the rear doorwhen the RENAULT card does notwork:– use of devices using the same frequency as the card;– vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.1.8If you lose your RENAULT card orrequire another, you can obtain onefrom an authorised dealer.If a RENAULT card is replaced, itwill be necessary to take the vehicle and all of its RENAULT cards toan approved Dealer to initialise thesystem.You may use up to four RENAULTcards per vehicle.Integrated key 5– when the RENAULT card battery isdrained, flat battery, etc.Replacement: need for anadditional RENAULT CardAdviceAvoid leaving the card in hot, cold orhumid areas.Do not keep the RENAULT card ina place where it could be bent ordamaged accidentally, such as in aback pocket of a garment.

“HANDS-FREE” RENAULT CARD: usage (1/4)Locking/unlocking thevehicle11There are two ways to unlock/lock thevehicle: be within the access zone orusing the card RENAULT.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone in your vehicle, even fora short time.1They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors, for example.It allows locking/unlocking without inputon the card RENAULT when within theaccess zone 1.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.Do not store the RENAULT cardanywhere it may come into contact with other electronic equipment(computer, phone, etc.) as this couldhinder its operation.1.9

“HANDS-FREE” RENAULT CARD: usage (2/4)Special features relating to vehiclelocking2– When locking, if a door is open or incorrectly closed, the vehicle will lockand unlock in quick succession without the hazard warning lights flashing;– after locking by pressing button 2,you have to wait approximately3 seconds to be able to unlock thevehicle again.2Be within the access zoneDepending on the vehicle, pressbutton 2 on the handle of one of thefront doors, the tailgate or the rearhinged door.The hazard warning lights flashing tellsyou about the vehicle status:– two flashes indicate that the vehicleis locked.– one flash indicates that the vehicleis unlocked.1.102

“HANDS-FREE” RENAULT CARD: usage (4/4)Rear opening elementslocking/unlocking65With the engine running, if, afteropening and closing a door, the card isno longer in the zone 5, the message“KEYCARD NOT DETECTED” (together with a beep when the speed exceeds a limit) warns you that the cardis no longer in the vehicle. This avoidsyou driving away after having droppedoff a passenger who has the card, forexample.The warning disappears when the cardis detected again.7Press button 7 to lock/unlock the rearhinged doors or the tailgate and, depending on the vehicle, the side doors.The hazard warning lights flashing notifies you of the status of the rear opening elements:– two flashes indicate that the rearopening elements are locked;– one flash indicates that the rearopening elements are unlocked.Distance lighting functionThe interior lights come on for approximately 30 seconds when button 6 ispressed. This can be used, for example, to identify the vehicle from a distance when parked in a car park.NB: Pressing button 6 again switchesoff the lighting.After locking/unlocking the vehicleusing the buttons on the RENAULTcard, "hands-free" locking and unlocking is deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.1.12

RENAULT CARD: deadlockingTo deactivate deadlockingUnlock the vehicle using button 1 onthe RENAULT card.1 2The hazard warning lights flash once toindicate that the doors have been unlocked.3If the vehicle is equipped with a deadlocking function, this allows you to lockthe opening elements and to preventthe doors from being unlocked usingthe interior handles (for example, bybreaking the window and then trying toopen the door from the inside).Never use deadlocking ifsomeone is still inside thevehicle.To activate deadlocking– Press the button 2 twice in quick succession;or– With the vehicle unlocked, you canalso press the button 3 on the driveror passenger side door twice in quicksuccession (or, depending on thevehicle, on the tailgate or the reardoor).In both cases, locking is indicated bythe hazard warning lights flashing fivetimes.After activating the deadlockingfunction using button 2, “handsfree” locking and unlocking are deactivated.To reactivate the “hands-free” mode:restart the vehicle.1.13

FRONT DOORS (2/2)Lights-on reminder buzzerDoor/tailgate open buzzerIf you have switched off the ignitionand left the lights switched on, a reminder buzzer will sound when a dooris opened.If a door is open or not properly closed,as soon as the vehicle reaches a speedof approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), themessage “Door open” will appear onthe instrument panel, accompanied bya warning light.Card reminder buzzer(depending on the vehicle)On opening the driver’s door, if thecard is still in the reader, the message“PLEASE REMOVE KEYCARD” is displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by a warning beep.Special noteDepending on the vehicle, accessories(e.g. radio) stop working either whenthe engine is switched off or when thedriver’s door is opened or when thedoors are locked.Key reminder alarm(depending on the vehicle)If you have left the key in the ignition,an alarm will sound when the driver’sdoor is opened.1.15

SLIDING SIDE DOOR (2/2)Recommendations concerning the sliding side door.4Child safetyTo make it impossible for the rear doorsto be opened from the inside, movescrew 4 and close the door.Check from the inside that all the doorsare locked.The door can only be opened from theoutside of the vehicle.Driver’s responsibilitywhen parking or stoppingthe vehicleNever leave an animal,child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone on your vehicle, even fora short time.They may pose a risk to themselvesor to others by starting the engine,activating equipment such as theelectric windows or locking thedoors.Also, in hot and/or sunny weather,please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUSINJURY.Care must be taken whenopening or closing the sliding door, as is the case for any ofthe opening elements on the vehicle:– Check that the door will not comeinto contact with any person, partof the body, animal or object.– Only use the handles on theinside and outside of the door tooperate it.– Take care when opening and closing the door.– Take particular care when thevehicle is parked on a slope:open or close the door fully untilit latches into its locking position.– Before moving off, always ensurethat the sliding door is properlyclosed.1.17

REAR HINGED DOORS (1/4)1132Opening the doors from theoutsidePull the lever 3 to open the door.Vehicles with a remote controlUnlock the vehicle using the remotecontrol and pull handle 1.Vehicles with RENAULT cardWith the card on your person, pressbutton 2 to unlock the vehicle and pullhandle 1.1.18If the vehicle is parked onthe hard shoulder with tailgate open, the rear lightsmay be obscured. Youshould make other road users awareof your vehicle by using a warningtriangle or other equipment specified by the road traffic regulations ofthe country you are driving in.

REAR HINGED DOORS (2/4)45Driving with the right-handdoor openWith the right-hand door open, closethe left-hand door.On equipped vehicles, lock the lefthand door by turning the lock 5 to put itin its housing 4.If driving with the righthand rear hinged dooropen, always secure transported loads (please referto the section “Transporting objects”in Section 3). The left-hand door,which remains shut, should not beused to hold transported loads inplace. Using the right rear hingeddoor open while driving should onlybe done in exceptional cases.In any event, please refer to locallegislation. Risk of loads falling onthe road surface.1.19

REAR HINGED DOORS (3/4)76Opening the doors to themaximum positionFor each door, pull handle 6 to releasethe door check strap 7. Open the dooras far as possible.Do not leave the hingedrear doors open in case ofstrong winds. Risk of injury.1.20Closing from the outsidePartially close the right-hand door, thenslam it shut.Then repeat this with the left-hand door.Lock.For your safety, check thatall the vehicle’s doors areproperly closed beforestarting the engine.

TAILGATETo openWith the tailgate unlocked, press thebutton 1 and lift the tailgate.21Vehicles with a remotecontrolThe tailgate is locked and unlocked bypressing the remote control button.Vehicles with RENAULT cardThe tailgate is locked and unlocked:– by pressing the RENAULT card buttons;– in hands-free mode by locking/unlocking the front doors.1.22To closeLower the tailgate, initially using the interior handle 2 to assist you.When the tailgate has been lowered toshoulder height, release handle 2 andfinish closing the tailgate by pressingdown on the tailgate from the outside.
