DIVERSE FAITH BACKGROUNDSAir Force chaplains are professional clergy fromdiverse faith and denominational backgrounds, including Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, OrthodoxChristian and Protestant, and are commissionedmilitary officers.Full-time or part-time, a Catholic chaplain is: A strong witness to the Catholic faith. A confidential counselor and spiritual director. A defender of religious freedom. A spiritual and sacramental caregiver to Airmen, their families and authorized personnel. An intentional advisor to leadership. A Chaplain Corps team player. Catholic priests and seminarians are criticallyneeded to serve Catholic Airmen and their familieswhile supporting the religious needs of all.Serving God as a Catholic priest in the AirForce is a tremendous honor. In exchangingyour typical civilian parish for a wing [Air Forceorganization], civilian town for a base and blackclothing for various camouflage patterns, youdo not lose your priestly identity; you expand itby seeing God at work across the world in thelives of our Airmen and their families.- Chaplain nicholas reid
