Intertek Clean Air Certified KnollStudio ProductsPropeller CollectionIntertek Clean Air CertificationIntertek’s Clean Air Certification validtes the level of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from products. VOCs are gases emitted from products andinclude a variety of chemicals that may effect consumers’ health in the short- and long-term. Both Intertek Clean Air GOLD and SILVER certifications ensurethe user-health, safety and sustainability of Knoll products. A selection of Knoll Office and KnollStudio products are Intertek certified Clean Air, most of whichare certified GOLD, which imposes more rigorous standards than certified SILVER. Materials and FinishesKnollStudio Natural MaterialsWood and marble are naturalmaterials that vary. Use materialsamples and printed samplematerials as reference only.KnollStudio printed and finishsamples offer an example of what an‘‘average’’ natural material may looklike, within a range of acceptancecarefully delineated by Knoll.Because of the breadth of variationspossible with any natural material,Knoll specialists select thesematerials with stringent criteria,accepting only the top 3 - 5% of whatis available.WoodKnoll Natural VeneersAll natural finishes are selected fromthe finest hardwoods available aroundthe world. Veneers are flat cut andcarefully matched so that cathedral orheart patterns are perfectly balanced.Natural veneers also are cut to allow agenerous margin of quarter-grainfiguring ensuring invisible splicing.QuarterPatternPropeller CollectionSatin Coated MarbleSatin coated marbles havetransparent satin polyester coating toprevent use-associated stains. Thissatin finish gives the stone a natural,honed appearance while providingthe same protective qualities as theCoated Marbles. Even with thisprotection, satin coated marblesshould not be used outdoors. Hues,veins, crystals, fossils, clouds, anddistinctive marks will vary frompiece to piece. This is theextraordinary character of stoneas a material. Product MaintenanceWith proper care, your KnollStudiofurniture should last for years tocome. To help ensure the longevity ofyour purchase, below are helpful hintson routine cleaning for yourKnollStudio piece. Most basicmaintenance can be performed withcommon household cleaningproducts.WoodClean with a commercial brandof liquid furniture polish twicea month. For stubborn dirt or lightscratches, rub lightly with very finesteel wool before using furniturepolish. Steel wool Grade #0000 isrecommended. To rejuvenate luster,apply a furniture cream as a laststep. Do not use water or householdsolvents: they will destroy theprotective finish.Marble with Polyester CoatingWash with lukewarm water. Washmore thoroughly with Windex,Fantastik, Ivory Flakes in warmwater, or other non-abrasivesolutions. Rinse with warm water anddry with a soft cloth.Propeller CollectionChrome/Satin ChromeClean with Windex or an automotivechrome cleaner such asSemi-Chrome twice a month. Apply acoat of hard paste wax to protectagainst moisture.Polished AluminumClean with Windex, Fantastik, orother non-abrasive cleaningsolutions. Coat with a hard paste waxsemi-annually to maintain luster andprevent discoloration.Anodized AluminumClean with mild soaps, detergents, orother non-abrasive cleaning agents.Apply paste wax or DuPontnon-abrasive car polish #7 twice ayear to prevent oxidation.For stubborn stains or discolorations, apply navel jelly aluminumcleaner.Urethane EdgeClean with household soaps anddetergents well dissolved in water.Do not use abrasive cleaningsolutions.Powder Coat PaintVetro BiancoWash surface with lukewarm water.Clean more thoroughly with anon-abrasive solution such asWindex or Fantastik. Rinse withwarm water and dry with a soft cloth.Wipe off stains immediately withwater and a soft cloth. Never usesteel wool or other abrasives onsurface.Clean with Windex or Endust using asoft cloth. Remove stubborn stainswith Soft Scrub.Glass/Acrylic PolycarbonateClean with Windex, Fantastikor other non-abrasive cleaningsolutions. Wipe dry with aclean cloth.Laminate/MelamineScrub with Windex, Fantastik, Mr.Clean, or other household soaps ordetergents well dissolved in water, orwith a very soft cloth dampened withalcohol or a synthetic thinner. For adull finish, rub with jeweler’s rougeas a polishing agent and finish withpaste wax. Never use abrasives.Remove stubborn stains with SoftScrub.Stainless SteelUse Windex, Fantastik, or othernon-abrasive household cleaners.For small scratches, rub with Comet,Ajax, or other mild abrasives in thedirection of the grain. Apply a coat ofauto wax to maintain beauty.9
