If your service cable has tobe moved later to make roomfor a new swimming pool,patio, deck, etc., new chargesapply. Plan ahead! Underground cable will beburied only in a ComEdeasement or in the propertythat it serves. Additionalcharges apply if yoursecondary service cable routeis longer than 100feet. To avoid additional ComEdcharges - a customer can perform the following: can digtheir own trench, can installtheir own cable per municipality requirements - note thecustomer will then own andmaintain the cable, can complete their own boring workper municipality requirements, and can dig their ownsplice pits.24 There will be charges fromComEd if you convert fromoverhead to undergroundservice. You are responsible formaking or exposing underground sprinkler systems,private wiring, sewers, draintiles, etc. The trench route mustbe within 4 inches of finalgrade and clear of all obstacles (sheds, swing sets,tree stumps, landscaping,fencing, etc.). Generally, restoration oflandscaping is the customer’sresponsibility. Conduit may be requiredunder roads/pavement or bythe municipality.29
