Weight Management Center Gastric Bypass Diet ManualWeight Loss Surgery Pre-op Liquid Diet The purpose of the pre-op liquid diet is to shrink your liver. The liver andstomach are close to each other in the body. It can make you feel bloated and gassy.Your pouch is swollen from surgery. Fluids will empty much easier when the swellinggoes down.Remember: If you have trouble drinking plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or orange. Don’t use drinks that contain sugar. Even natural sugars, like the ones in juice, contain alot of calories. They will slow your weight loss and may cause you to feel sick. Do not drink carbonated beverages (anything with bubbles) even if they are “flat.”When you swallow “flat” soda, the trapped air bubbles are released in your pouch. It will make it taste bland and dilute the nutrients.You may use herbs and spices to help flavor your foods.Tips for Success: Start taking your vitamin supplements.o Bariatric Fusion Vitamins: 2 chews in the morning, 2 chews in theevening.o Barilife Powder Vitamin: 1 scoop with 8-10 ounce fluid in themorning, 1 scoop with 8-10 ounce fluid in the evening. Place in a 2 cupdish or four half-cup ramekins. Pour marinara on top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
