Program OverviewChristians today are ready to explore new perspectives on Christianity, andthey are seeking solid, biblically-based sources. They are ready to catch thevision of the prophets of Israel. To reach these seekers, with God’s help, wepresent First Fruits of Zion: A Promise of What is to Come. The First Fruits of Zion television program delivers a high-energy, professional presentation of the prophetic aspects of the Gospel message from aMessianic Jewish perspective. Every episode opens new insights into theteaching of Jesus of Nazareth with end-times implications. Kingdom-focusedand Jesus-centered, this is Messianic Jewish teaching at its best. It will encourage Christians to go deeper in their personal relationship with the JewishMessiah. The program tagline, “A Promise of What is to Come,” acknowledges thatthere is something greater taking place than just learning and understandingthe Bible in a new way. We are part of a restoration and a return predicted byMoses, the prophets, Yeshua (Jesus) and the apostles. The modern state ofIsrael and the Messianic Jewish revival we see today is only the first blossoming of the great, final redemption which will usher in the kingdom of Messiah. The big picture is a glimpse of the kingdom, and a vision to see this restoration fulfilled. First Fruits of Zion: A Promise of What is to Come attempts tobring this “big picture” to the small screen.

While certainly this is amajor component of the Gospel, it is not the whole story. In episode one viewers willlearn that the concept of the Gospel wasn’t invented by Jesus or the disciples, but ratherwas prophesied in the Old Testament. The “Good News” was the promise of the comingmessiah and that he would bring redemption to the children of Israel.Episode 03: Call His Name YeshuaIt may be shocking to learn, but the fact is that many people were named Jesus in firstcentury Israel. So how is it then that his name is the name above all names? In episodethree the name of Jesus is explored in depth in order to gain a better understanding ofthe significance of not only Christ’s name but his mission. The name Jesus means“salvation” and it was preordained in the prophecies of the Hebrew Scriptures that theMessiah would bring salvation not only to Israel but to all mankind.Episode 12: Raising DisciplesEveryone knows that Jesus had twelve disciples but many would be surprised to find outthat the institution of discipleship existed centuries before the time of the Apostles. Inepisode twelve, viewers will gain a better understanding of what it means to be a disciplefrom the understanding of Judaism in the days of Messiah. Jesus tells us that “Everydisciple fully trained will become like his teacher.” Indeed, to be a Christian means to bea disciple of Jesus, a student responsible for learning and becoming like one’s rabbi.Episode 18: Speaking in ParablesIt may be surprising to many Christians that the use of parables was not unique to Jesus butwas rather a Jewish literary art form that had been developed over centuries. In episodeeighteen viewers will learn that Jesus used parables not as riddles but stories to help clarifyhis points. Jesus’ parables attempted to make it easier for his listeners to grasp his wordsbecause they were seeing and not hearing. Like other rabbis of his day, Jesus used parablesto serve as simple illustrations to help us understand his message about the kingdom.Episode 24:Treasure in HeavenWhat did Jesus mean when he told his disciples to store up treasures in heaven? Inepisode twenty-four, we will take a look at the phrase “treasures in heaven” through aJewish lens. Jesus tells us that God rewards his children openly for what they do in secret.Viewers will learn that being disciples of Jesus means being a generous person, giving tothe needy and the work of the kingdom and not focusing on earthly gain.
