We have evolved and willcontinue to do so as our customers’ needs andthe world around us evolves.To that end, four years ago, we started aresearch initiative called Venture Forwardto quantify the impact of 20 millionmicrobusinesses and to better understandwho they are and the challenges they face.This publicly available data, which is refreshedregularly to maintain a clear picture of thecurrent landscape, is being used by U.S.mayors, economic developers and otheradvocates to celebrate these game-changingcommunity forces and to identify ways tosupport them through policies and programs.Right now, for example, we know that one ofthe top three challenges entrepreneurs face issimply getting online.That stark reality drives the work of Empowerby GoDaddy — our global social impactprogram that has, since its launch in 2017,provided approximately 5,000 entrepreneurswith the training, tools and peer networksneeded to advance their ventures.But we know that our responsibility to seizeopportunities and make the world a betterplace doesn’t stop there. Belief in the power ofdiversity, inclusion and belonging is woven into1

the fabric of GoDaddy, and in 2021, we furtherdemonstrated our long-standing commitment.Our seventh annual Diversity and Pay Equityreport highlights our meaningful progressin creating a more diverse and inclusiveworkplace where employees are encouragedto bring their authentic selves to work. In2021, we once again achieved pay parityfor women (globally) and ethnic minorities(U.S.) and we increased our ethnic minorityrepresentation in leadership roles. Recently,we also scored 100% on the Human RightsCampaign’s Corporate Equality Index for thethird year in a row and were honored to benamed a Forbes Best Employer for Women.GoDaddy 2021 Sustainability ReportWe’ve also invested in doing more to combatclimate change. During our annual strategicplanning process, we identified this keyarea and decided to sharpen our focus onGoDaddy’s environmental impact and thecorresponding actions we can take, includingaccounting for and disclosing our greenhousegas emissions for the first time. We’ve alsolooked at operational changes we can make tobe kinder to the earth. In addition to disclosingour emissions, we are proud to announceour first target to reduce our scope 1 and 2emissions by 50% by 2025 while we activelywork on a longer-term goal.When times get tough — as they havebeen during the turbulence and reckoningover the past few years — we return to ourfoundational elements: empowerment, equity,inclusion, sustainability, trust, respect andauthenticity. Empower byGoDaddy makes opportunity more accessible by offering thetraining and tools needed to launch a business, thrive professionallyand build generational wealth.Now in its third season, the latest installment of Made in Americahighlights inspirational entrepreneurs based in and around Phoenix,Arizona. With help from a team of professionals at the Better BusinessBureau Serving the Pacific Southwest and our GoDaddy Guides, theseentrepreneurs are changing their communities and their lives.20

Spotlight StoryOne of those entrepreneurs is Cherilyn Yazzie,co-owner of Coffee Pot Farms. Cherilyn, aNavajo Nation farmer, recognized a problem:Across more than 27,000 square miles,there are only 13 grocery stores for morethan 150,000 Navajo citizens. Knowing theimportance of bringing nutritious food tothe reservation, she set out to remedy thecommunity’s lack of access to fresh produce.GoDaddy 2021 Sustainability ReportCherilyn and her husband Mike learned tofarm and grow their own food, but there wereadditional roadblocks. They faced extremehardship — an unprecedented drought,financial challenges and personal losses —but persevered. And yet, they still struggledwith the business and technology side of theCoffee Pot Farms mission.We were honored when Cherilyn joined the2021 Arizona Empower by GoDaddy program,where we helped her learn how to build heronline presence and get connected to crucialnetworks. Examples ofmicrobusinesses positively impacting theircommunities abound, but historically, there hasbeen a lack of reliable, comprehensive data toquantify the profound impact they have.GoDaddy 2021 Sustainability ReportAs a result, everyday entrepreneurs havenot had a voice in the policy and technologydebates that affect their businesses, includingon issues regarding credit access, taxation,broadband access, skills training, benefitsportability or internet policy. In the words ofone policymaker we briefed, “You can’t createpolicy for what you can’t see.”Now, we have the data to prove the incredibleimpact microbusinesses have on ourcommunities and economy. Through theGoDaddy Venture Forward research initiative,which we started in 2018, we are highlightingthe impact made by the 20 millionmicrobusinesses our customers have createdin the U.S., and we’re providing a unique viewinto the attitudes, demographics and needsof these entrepreneurs. The insights we’vegathered show the positive economic impactof these everyday entrepreneurs.We’ve talked to hundreds of policymakers,elected officials and influencers since the launchof Venture Forward, and they acknowledgethat these entrepreneurs need and deservesupport to realize their full potential. Thisdata provides a pathway for policymakers andelected officials to advocate for the resourcesand policies that the microbusinesses in theircommunities need to thrive.Venture Forward will continue to partnerclosely with microbusinesses, policymakersand elected officials to provide them withdata, analysis and insights so that, together,we can create a more inclusive andprosperous economy.Highlights: Household median income gains: New jobs added: 485 for each new active microbusinessper 100 people. 2 by each everyday entrepreneur ina community.Reducing unemployment:one microbusiness per 100 people canreduce the unemployment rate by .05%.22

That’s why through our VentureForward work we’ve curated partnerships withforward-thinking companies and organizationsthat help us elevate our mission to empowerentrepreneurs everywhere.GoDaddy x Milken Institute: Analyzing theimpact of microbusinessesFor the past 20 years, policymakers haverelied on the Milken Institute’s Best PerformingCities (BPC) index to compare the economicperformance and future prospects ofmetropolitan areas across the U.S.In 2021, with cities around the country lookingto revitalize pandemic-battered economies,the team at the Milken Institute’s Center forRegional Economics (CRE), which producesthe BPC index, decided to expand the criteria.While the formula has heavily rewarded thelevel of growth in high-tech sectors, the CREteam added two new measures — access tobroadband and housing affordability — tobetter reflect the degree to which all residentshave access to economic opportunity.GoDaddy 2021 Sustainability ReportCreighton Elinski — HINTERLANDSKIS.COMBut the picture was still not complete. Theauthors knew, for example, that their criteriawere not capturing data on the millionsof online microbusinesses in the U.S. thatGoDaddy’s Venture Forward initiative has beenstudying since 2018. In 2021, the CRE andVenture Forward teams began collaboratingon a groundbreaking study on the link betweenmicrobusiness activity and overall wage andjob growth as reflected in the BPC ratings.The final report shows a correlation betweenmicrobusiness density and BPC rankings in67% of the metro areas studied.23

Inclusive EntrepreneurshipGoDaddy x Mastercard: Advancing inclusiveand sustainable developmentGoDaddy’s Venture Forward initiativehas partnered with Mastercard’s CityPossible program, a partnership andco-creation initiative that brings cities,companies and communities togetherto identify common challenges andco-develop solutions that advanceinclusive and sustainable development.GoDaddy 2021 Sustainability ReportThe GoDaddy x Mastercard partnership isdesigned to use the Mastercard City Insightsdigital marketplace to grant City Possiblemembers access to GoDaddy’s VentureForward data (which is aggregated andanonymized in accordance with data protectionlaws). This enhances the reach and impactthat the insights on microbusinesses can have.Informed by data that shows the outsizedeconomic impact of everyday entrepreneurs,this access will empower local governmentsand economic developers with the data andinsights they need to better support themicrobusinesses in their communities and thepeople behind them.24

As part of our ongoing responseto the needs of small business owners, wehosted GoDaddy Open 2021, a live, virtualevent that offered thousands of everydayentrepreneurs the opportunity to learn,connect and grow. Attendees were invitedto get inspired by our lineup of businessleaders, experts and influencers as wediscussed solutions for navigating the new,digital-first entrepreneurial landscape.With sessions on GoDaddy’s commercecapabilities, including our new point-of-saledevices and other tools, the event showcasedour commitment to helping entrepreneurs sellanything, anywhere — even when that meansgoing beyond online stores to enable in-storeretail, in-person payments and transactionson other online marketplaces. And, to makeit even simpler, entrepreneurs can manage itfrom one place with GoDaddy.Highlights of the event included: Inspiring keynotes featuring real-worldstories from successful entrepreneurs. Workshop-like sessions loaded withbest practices. One-of-a-kind mentoring andnetworking opportunities.25

Customer ExperienceWe believe our customersdeserve first-rate technologyand exceptional customersupport.Entrepreneurs come to GoDaddy to nametheir idea, create a compelling brand, buildan inspired website, attract customers withdigital and social marketing and sell theirproducts and services online and offline.They put their trust in us when it comesto providing them with the help and toolsthey need to grow online, and we take thatresponsibility very seriously, no matter whatstage in the business lifecycle they’re in.93%Our customer retention rate hasGoDaddy 2021 Sustainability Reportexceeded 85% for more than fiveconsecutive years. In 2021, our retentionrate for customers who had been with usfor more than three years exceeded 93%.By amplifying their highs and boostingconfidence during their lows, we make bigthings approachable — whether that’s throughone of our carefully created digital tools or viaone-on-one guidance and human connection.At GoDaddy, we’re not simply a solutionprovider.
