In verse 9, “ and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith,”what does it mean? And what can we learn from here?Q2. In Verses 10 -11, “Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck ofthe disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe thatthrough the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they,”what question did Peter answer? And why did Peter answer so?Q3. In Verses 16-17, “After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which hasfallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up;17 So that the rest of mankind may seekthe LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does allthese things,” what do these mean? And how can we apply these to our lives?(Background for Daily Bible Reading and Studying Weekly Book Basis)In the last time, in Acts 14:27-28, “Now when they had come and gathered the churchtogether, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faithto the Gentiles. 28 So they stayed there a long time with the disciples,” after Paul’s 1st mission tripwith Barnabas, Paul came back to the church in Antioch in Syria their home church and made themission trip report about the Holy Spirit’s works, not about their human works. It became their culture – a particular life style;e.g. “healing on the Sabbath day was labor” Jesus did notviolate the law but the tradition Mark 3:1-61; Today, manycustomary Christians, derived from the partial words of allscriptures, or babe/carnal Christians, supra); you cannotsaved (without circumcision rite, you can’t be saved or youcan’t have no positional salvation in the 2nd stage of life, supra; This is the question on this text)1Mark 3:1-6 And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2 Sothey watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He saidto the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.” 4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do goodor to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, beinggrieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and hishand was restored as whole as the other. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodiansagainst Him, how they might destroy Him.2

Paul and Barnabas .no small dissension and disputewith them (Paul and Barnabas had a big dispute on thatquestion with the proselytes – even they converted fromJudaism, their previous practice or habit still remained to worklaw to be righteous, see the “seen things of 2 nd stage,” supra);determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others .goup to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about thisquestion (Paul, Barnabas, Titus the uncircumcised Greek,and/or other brought this question to the leadership ofJerusalem church in light of Gal 2:1-62)3 .through Phoenicia (the region where Sidon and Tyrewere located, today in Lebanon) and Samaria; describing theconversion of the Gentiles (reported the 1st mission trip tochurches in Phoenicia and Samaria regions); caused great joyto all brethren (had great joyful fellowship with the members ofthe body of Christ at the Gentiles churches)4 .to Jerusalem by the church and the apostles and theelders .reported all things that God had done with them(Paul and Barnabas reported their 1st mission trip to Jerusalemchurch)5 some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed .necessary to circumcise them to keep the law of Moses(the proselytes alleged the same position of the “certain mencame down from Judea” in verse 1; those still tried to fulfill therighteous requirement of the law by doing according to theflesh, not according to the Spirit; those are babe Christians orCarnal Christians, supra, Rom 8:4; 1 Cor 3:1-33 )6 Now the apostles and elders together to consider thismatter (James, Peter, John, etc. the apostles and the eldershad private meeting for this present question)2Gal 2:1-6 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. 2 AndI went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately tothose who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. 3 Yet not even Titus who was withme, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. 4 And this occurred because of false brethren secretly broughtin (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us intobondage), 5 to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue withyou. 6 But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God showspersonal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. (what celebrity apostlessay doesn’t matter but what God says or the truth matters).3Rom 8:4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh butaccording to the Spirit; 1 Cor 3:1-3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, asto babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and evennow you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are younot carnal and behaving like mere men?3

God chose among us by mouth Gentilesshould hear the word of the gospel and believe (this regardsPeter’s preaching the gospel to Cornelius and his householdwho believed the gospel and received the Holy Spirit, whosegift was tongues as seen things Acts 10:1, 44-464)8 God know the heart (God is omniscient, knowseverything in not only present but also past & future timesPsalm 139:1-25; see verse 18 “known to God frometernity”) .by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us(just as the Gentiles Christians, the Jews Christians hadreceived the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost Acts 2:1-4; Rom8:96)9 Q1 .no distinction between us and them (there is nodifference between the Jew and the Greek/Gentiles but is amatter of heart to believe the Gospel Rom 10:127); purifyingtheir hearts by faith (purifying their heart from sins by believingthe truth of the gospel in the scripture Eph 2:8-9; 1 Peter1:228)10 Q2 .why .a yoke .a yoke (a yoke is the Mosaic lawin the Scripture including Circumcision; and also the customsand traditions which grew up near the Mosaic law (1) law is toknow sin, not to be righteous Rom 7:7; Gal 3:24-259; (2) thecircumcision rite is not required for salvation; Abraham’srighteousness came from his faith, not from circumcisionthereafter Rom 4:2-3; Gen 15:5-6; Gen 17:9-1010); on theneck of the disciples neither our father nor we bear? (So,in verse 1, “Unless you are circumcised according to thecustom of Moses, you cannot be saved” the question, hisanswer is the circumcision according to the custom of Mosesis not necessary for salvation to the Gentile or the Greek.)4Acts 10:1, 44-461 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called theItalian Regiment, 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard theword. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the giftof the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnifyGod.5 Psalm 139:1-2 O LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;You understand my thought afar off.6 Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenlythere came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they weresitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were allfilled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance; Rom 8:9 But youare not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit ofChrist, he is not His.7 Rom 10:12 For there is no distinction [difference KJV] between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich toall who call upon Him.8 Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 notof works, lest anyone should boast; 1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through theSpirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,9 Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin exceptthrough the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”; Gal 3:2425 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come,we are no longer under a tutor.10Rom 4:2-3 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For whatdoes the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness; Gen 15:5-6 Then Hebrought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And Hesaid to him, “So shall your descendants be.”6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him forrighteousness; Gen 17:9-10 And God said to Abraham: “As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and yourdescendants after you throughout their generations. 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me andyou and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised;4

Then the Lord will take Hischurch in the air while He visits the world with judgment andHe deals with the Jews “the rest of mankind” for one more 7year cycle. And then He will return with His church and willestablish His kingdom upon the earth Amos 9:11-12; Daniel9:26; Luke 21:24; Rom 11:25 11. It will be done as the Lord’sprayer “Thy kingdom come. So, Jamesconcluded salvation apart from the circumcision according tothe custom of Moses but should abstain the 3 things in orderto build up the body of Christ with Jews Christians not to upsettheir consciences deriving from “the custom of Moses” in verse1)Note: Most Christians say the Bible is important, but rarely study every word in the Bible. So, it’s better tostudy it and live accordingly after the Spirit for the Lord (2 Tim 2:15). This online word for global crusadein effect develops from the expositional sermon (KJV), into spiritual transformation in daily love fellowshipwith the Lord throughout the Bible Study (NKJV) -- All Scripture Expository Study from verse by verseInductive Studies -- of which application is the Discipleship and Spiritual Formation, closer to the image ofChrist. We think that “Any human opinion is not really important rather than what God says. So, the bestcommentary on the Bible is the Bible per se. But the opinion to make us understand God’s Word isacceptable (2 Corinthians 10:5).” Further, for the application, a life or spiritual experience might be helpfulto understand how to apply an understood word in the text column, but it is temperately used like Paul,14Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. AndHis name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.1 Cor 10:24-29 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.25 Eat whatever is sold in the meatmarket, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; 26 for “the earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness.” 27 If any of thosewho do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question forconscience’ sake. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the one whotold you, and for conscience’ sake; for “the earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness.” 29 “Conscience,” I say, not yourown, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience?16 Eph 5:22-25 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, asalso Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject toChrist, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also lovedthe church and gave Himself for her; Heb 13:4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; butfornicators and adulterers God will judge.1517Gen 9:4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.6
