Your Utility Bill ExplainedLet’s compare your Utility Bill with some other bills you pay. A grocery store receipt, a restaurant check, the checkout page for your online purchase, and so on. It’s completely normal to be able to review whatyou just purchased, each item and it’s price. Why should a Utility bill be any different? The next time youreceive your bill, take a moment to read through it. You will see individual line items, each with it’s owncharge amount, all adding up to the total bill. On your bill we provide a graph to show how your utilityuse has varied over the course of the year. This can be a helpful way of seeing when your use reaches it’shighest amounts. Santa Clara uses a Increasing Rate structure. The unit price is higher the more usage. This rate structure is designed to promote conservation.WATER CONSERVATIONBy Santa ClaraWater DepartmentUnderstanding Power & Water UsagePower is Billed in KWh: Your bill shows units ofelectricity you use in kilo-watt-hours (KWh).
