May/JuneMay 20072022The Anderson Healthcare Goshen Campus will soonbe unveiling its newest addition, the AndersonOutpatient Services building. Set to open in July, thebuilding will be unveiled on Thursday, June 30th. ARibbon Cutting event will take place at 10 a.m. thatday, followed by an Open House from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.The 50,000 square foot building is located at 3417Anderson Healthcare Drive and sits adjacent toDistrict Drive, across from Liberty Middle School.Inside, various outpatient services will be availablestarting with ExpressCare opening on July 7. TheGlen Carbon ExpressCare location will close afterJuly 5th and move to its new home on the GoshenCampus.On Monday, July 11, 17 providers of AndersonMedical Group will start seeing patients at the new,consolidated offices on the 2nd floor, Suite 200. Thatsame day, Rehab and Lab Services will open at thelocation as well. Goshen Imaging, an affiliate ofMaryville Imaging, is planned to open at a later date.It is subject to compliance approval with severalagencies prior to opening.The Outpatient Services building joins two otherbuildings located on the Goshen Campus. TheAnderson Surgery Center opened in 2020. The onestory building is anchored by Anderson SurgeryCenter and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’sHospital Specialty Clinic. In addition, the facilityhouses a Physician Specialists timeshare suite andlimited outpatient services from Anderson Hospitalincluding Lab, X-Ray and Audiology.In 2021, the Goshen Campus welcomed theAnderson Rehabilitation Institute. This 34-bed acuterehabilitation institute is managed by LifePoint Health(formerly Kindred Healthcare, LLC), and specializesin caring for adults recovering from conditionsresulting in a loss of function or disability such asstroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurologicaldisorders, orthopedic or musculoskeletal conditions,amputation, and other disabling conditions. Theinstitute features all private rooms, with 12 bedsspecific to brain/stroke injury care. The Institutereplaced the 20-bed hospital-based acute rehab unitthat had been inside Anderson Hospital since 2004.Anderson Outpatient Services Opens July 7!

ANDERSON HEALTHCARE PARTNERSCarol & Harry Windland donate to Anderson Hospital Rehab Gym RefreshAnderson Hospital received a 15,000.00 donationto update the in-patient Rehab Gym fromEdwardsville residents, Carol & Harry Windland.Carol who went through a hip surgery in Augustof 2021 had such a great experience at theAnderson Rehabilitation Institute, that she wantedto give back to Anderson Hospital in some way.When she heard the in-patient Rehab Gym neededan update, she wanted to help. “This is our way ofsaying thank you to the staff for their dedication,care and compassion on a daily basis,” said CarolWindland.The space included updates such as: wallpaperremoval, painting of walls, new cabinetry, new counter tops and chairs for the staff workspace, artwork andmore.Anderson Hospital uses the Rehab Gym for neurologic patients, post stroke patients, Parkinson’s patients andpost-op orthopedic patients after various surgeries. Tammy Becherer, Rehab Director, said “The staff andpatients will enjoy this uplifting and bright space for years to come.”Page 4

ANDERSON HEALTHCARE PARTNERSThe Anderson Hospital 25th Annual Foundation GolfTournament was held on May 9th at the Sunset HillsCountry Club in Edwardsville.The event featured 18 holes of golf. Contests included:Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive and Men’s andWomen’s Closet to the Pin, Buy a Drive and a PuttingContest. “We have a dedicated group of hospitalemployees who volunteer at this event who help to runthese contests.” “We were also lucky to have a beautifulday and we had a great group of 127 golfers!”, said LoriSt. John, Director of Development.The winners of the tournament were Charles Lane, M.D.,Tim Childers, Dave Chung, M.D. and Clayton Richie.They were 11 under par with a total score of 61.The event was a great success, raising a total of 21,849.00. Max Eakin Retiring After 44 Years of ServiceBest wishes to Dr. K.Max Eakin, FamilyMedicine, who will beretiring on July 7,2022.Since 1983, Dr. Eakin,has been an activemember of the medicalstaff at AndersonHospital. Over theyears he has served invarious capacitiesincluding MedicalStaff President (20042006); Medical StaffExecutive Committee; Family Medicine DepartmentChairman; Credentials Committee, AndersonHospital Board of Trustees (2006 – Present); andAnderson Hospital Foundation Board Co-Chairman(2013—Present).As Medical Staff President, he created an annualMedical Staff Scholarship Fund to promote advancededucation in health careers. That fund continues andeach year, the fund awards five area college studentswith 1,000 scholarships to aid in their pursuit of amedical career.In 2009, Dr. Eakin personally spearheadedmedical staff fundraising efforts for the IntensiveCare Unit Capital Campaign. Dr. Eakin not onlymonetarily donated personally with his partners forthe campaign, but also served as a “Champion” toencourage other Medical Staff members toparticipate.In 2010, he was honored with the prestigiousFounders Award to recognize him as an instrumentalfigure in the development and ongoing success ofAnderson Hospital. Anderson Hospital and ourPage 7community have benefited from Dr. Eakin’s years ofdedicated service and we wish him the best in hisretirement.Dr. Eakin crafted a personal letter that was sent toall of his patients and we wanted to share part of ithere with you:Dr. Patients,Through the years I have had the privilege to carefor, work with, teach, and learn from many specialpeople and will always cherish their friendship, love,and respect. STAFF NEWS — EXPANDING ROLESData Specialist, Janet Highlander, is also “expanding” her role to includeretirement. Janet was one of Anderson’s original employees, working hereprior to the hospital’s opening in January 1977. She then took time off forparenthood and returned to work full time in 1981. Renowned Cardinal’sbaseball fan, Janet will surely have more time to enjoy watching her favorite team. Janet begins her retirement role on July 1, 2022. We wish her thebest!Focus: Enhancing the Patient ExperienceThe Patient Experience Team resumed meetings this year and have spent the last two months focusing on enhancing communication.
