Part 1: What is the Issue Here?Pastor Andrew MurchWe have a major problem in our culture today involving the issue of sexuality. Gender identity is breaking down: what it means to be male and female. Healthy sexuality in culture is breaking down: rampant pornography, sexual abuse, sexualdeviance Sexuality lived out biblically in the right contexts (biblical marriage) is breaking down: obviously culture’s understanding of marriage is on its head. Our culture doesn’t see these things as issues—it calls these things “Modern Family.”Romans 1:18-201) Creation reveals the power and nature of God. (verse 20)Genesis 1:26-27Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. So God created man in hisown image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.2) God's revelation through his creation makes all human beings accountable to him.Romans 1:21-231) We are, by nature, beings who "worship." Worship: to ascribe worth and give honor to something/someone. Worship should be directed toward God, but sin corrupts it.2) Rejection of God degrades our minds and darkens our hearts. Futile: “their thoughts became directed to worthless things”3) Rejection of God leads to a heinous exchange: Glory of immortal God for idol fantasy.Rejecting God and Worshipping Idols1) The first idol is an obsession with sexual gratification. (1:24-25)2) The second idol is an obsession with sexual deviance. (1:26-27)3) The third idol is an obsession with total worthlessness. (1:28)4) The final result is a life and society drowning in sin, shame, and evil. (1:29-32)5

Slippery slope of deviant sexuality: Idolatry of image (verse 23)Lust, Impurity, Dishonoring bodies (verse 24)Trusting lies instead of truth (verse 25)Dishonorable passions and unnatural relations (verse 26)Homosexuality (verse 27)Debased mind (verse 28)The issue here is "objectification."We weren't created by God as "objects," we were created in his image as human beings.Objectification: When humans become objects, those who create them into such lose their humanity. When you make a person an object, by objectifying them, you begin to lose your humanity. You are striking against the image of God in that other person, and that creates a debasedmind-set in you.6

Part 2: Is There Hope from Addictions?Terry BellHow does someone recover from an addiction?Hope - Three thoughts:1. LifePoint Church’s individual view - acceptance of the addicted2. The addicted person's view of life3. God's view of the addictedRecovery What am I recovering to - perfection? My will in the matter Identify the hurdles to change Move from isolation - exposing the secret (the real you)7

Part 3: How do I literally protect my house?Jim Connett GENERAL SUGGESTIONSKeep anything with a screen publicly in view at all times.Every home network should have a router - not only does this allow multiple devices toconnect to the Internet, but it also creates an electronic barrier between you and theInternet.Secure your router with a password known only to you.Remember your neighbor’s wireless!Establish limited access computer accounts for your children to use. Give access to theadministrator account only when you’re around. If admin activity is required, then the parent must be there to enter the password.Create and encourage a no-secret-passwords culture. Locks on phones if a password is entered incorrectly.Check your child’s electronic devices regularly. regularly regularly.and means regularlyStore all device chargers in the parent’s bedroom. Forces the child to turn them in at night so the device isn’t in their room Allows you the opportunity to go through the phoneEstablish no-technology zones in your home. Kitchen table, bathroomSet screen time limits. Norton Family - set limits per user per day/weekendIf you have a choice, choose Android over Apple. Android is more capable of being monitoredBe a part of your child’s social network.Reconsider the use monthly parental services offered by cell phone companies. Costly.and does very littleUse parental controls on smartphones to limit application installation. YouTube, SnapChat, etc.Smartphones, bedrooms, and bedtime don’t mix. If available, use advanced settings on therouter to control when a device can connect to the router.Use your Windows or iOS operating system’s parental controls to their maximumpotential. There are two different types of “parental software”: filtering and monitoring. Monitoring software doesn’t filter by design, but filtering software may have anotification component.9

Part 4: What are we Doing at LifePoint to Protect This House?Pastor Drew SaccentiI. My Story: Growing up in a “don’t ask don’t tell “cultureWith the boom of high speed internet and home computers in the early 2000’s pornographybecame accessible to the majority of people with a home computer. This has created amassive problem for the Y and Z Generation (Anyone born from 1980-2014.)A. Progress of the Accessibility of Pornography1. Print (Limited Accessibility: Pictures, Magazines,ETC)2. Home Computers with dial-up internet3. Home computers with high speed internet4. Laptop Computers with high speed internet and wireless internet5. Handheld devices with wireless internetII. Our Story: Building an aware and proactive culture.“To be 99.9% known is to be 100% unknown”A. REV youth strives to:1. Engage our youth through relational discipleship2. Relational discipleship is the only thing that leads to transparency and purity3. Rip out the root instead of picking off the fruit4. Equip staff and students with the tools for accountability5. Bring awareness to parents and adult leaders of the severity of pornography andsexual sin6. Pray, pray, then pray some moreIII. Your Story: Our story is your storyBrothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill thelaw of Christ.1A. Alarming statistics: 2 ONLY 3% of boys (under 18) and 17% of girls HAVE NEVER seen internet porn. In a 2010 national survey, over a quarter of 16 to 17 year-olds said they were exposed tonudity online when they did not want to see it. More than 7 out of 10 teens hide their online behavior from their parents in some way.15

More than half of boys and nearly a third of girls see their first pornographic imagesbefore they turn 13. 90% of 8-16 year-olds have viewed porn online. Mobile porn is increasing in popularity 1 in 5 mobile searches are for pornography.B. Information for parents to keep in mind:a. If your child has a mobile device that has internet accessibility he or she is most likelywatching pornography.i. You no longer have to seek out pornography. Pornography seeks you.3b. Don’t be afraid to set strict guidelines.i. Everyone else is tells your kids what to do; don’t let your words be the last they hear.C.
