Getting to know the students through a classroomexperience and being able to join them in celebrating their classroom successes issomething that I find very rewarding. I valued the time in the classroom with mystudents even more as a department chair than I did as a faculty member, and I continuedto feel that I learned as much from them each semester as they did from me. The coursethat I continued to teach was Computer Communication and Networks. It is directlyrelated to some of my research interests. As this field is constantly changing, the coursecontent changes every semester. This 400(G)-level course is designed as a depth coursefor CS majors. My student evaluations continued to be favorable over the years. My numerical classevaluations were consistently between 4.7 to 4.3 on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being thehighest evaluation possible). Students mentioned that they feel I was approachable andwas prepared for the class.
