Seniors are feverishly visiting and applying to colleges andfor many students, the list of schools they are interested in is too long tomanage visiting all of them. Area colleges recognize this and scheduletimes to visit our students. These opportunities happen during the schoolday and the students sign up to attend.During the visit, a representative from the respective school explains the

nonscholarships and campus life, the various clubs and activities a studentcan join, etc. Students enjoy these meetings as they are surrounded bytheir peers and feel very comfortable asking questions. The collegerepresentatives do a great job of capturing the interest and specific areasof curiosity of those in attendance. District Goals for Curriculum - Part IIICareer Connections2015-20162016-2017In our changing world of work, for many students "realizing their fullBlue Devil VolleyballThe final point for thewin against Monroeand a spot at thesectional finals.potential" or just knowing "what you want to be when you grow up" canbe a very nebulous concept. Sometimes in classrooms you might hearquestions like "Why are we learning this?" and "Will I ever really usethis?"Our third 2015-16 district instructional goal is key to helpingstudents see the link between what they are learning in class and theirfuture. The goal: Each content teacher will provide at least two CareerConnection experiences that relate to the content students are learning. As a district we are committed tohelping students see the possibilitiesSchool LunchMenusElementaryIntermediate / Highfor their future. Goal 3 builds on ourpreviousmaintainedcollegeandcareer oriented goals and initiatives. On top of grade level specific activitieslike: guest speakers, careerfair, college research projects, and career interest inventories, each year7th through 10th grade students will visit a different college or university. The "Where Are They Now." articles and poster campaign are alsodisplayed to give current students a look at Brookville alumni who arenow in careers. Also, last year we held a college and career signing andcommitment day. This new goal means that in this year alone, studentsin K-4 will have at least two opportunities to learn about careers thatconnect to what they are learning, and students in higher grades willhave approximately 10 intentional career connections built into theirschool year.

Ourhope is that all students will see new possibilities for their future.
